He wanted a proper wife. What he got was a woman on the run…with a baby.

Edward Remington is determined to breathe life back into the rundown inn his grandfather left him, proving to his wealthy family that he can succeed on his own terms. What he’s not ready for? Rowdy neighbors and greedy land-grabbers in a frontier town with zero women in it. Desperate for a capable partner, he sends for a mail-order bride with clear instructions: She needs to be a refined, well-mannered woman, capable of helping him run the inn.

Enter Lacey Cleveland—barefoot, broke, and breathtaking...holding a toddler on her hip. She’s no polished lady, but she’s brave, resourceful, and determined to make a better life for herself and the nephew she’s been tasked with raising.

To be fair, Edward isn’t the charming gentleman she hoped for either. He’s bossy, brooding, and much too handsome for her peace of mind. Their sparks fly in all the wrong (and right) directions as they learn to put their differences aside to protect what matters most.

Fall head over boots for a romance in the heart of the Wild West—built on faith, family, and the unlikeliest beginnings!

Good story. Not overly dramatic. Clean romance without being overly preachy. Similar to a no-co-author Katie Wyatt novella. There are a few tense moments but not really a lot of action. I like stories like this one where the couple works as a team and are honest with each other instead of constant bickering. It can be read alone, but you can tell that the supporting characters will continue some of the unresolved subplots with their own stories as the series continues. I'm looking forward to the next book. And the virtual narration seems to be improving although it still struggles with words with 2 pronunciations (i.e. does, bows, etc.)

Enjoyed it

I liked the several different storylines. The mail order bride, the brothers, the rich grooms family, the Indians, the town . . .
