Publisher's summary

Set amid the legendary Mitford household, Bright Young Dead is the second audiobook in the thrilling, Golden Age-style Mitford Murders series by Jessica Fellowes, author of the New York Times best-selling Downton Abbey books.

Meet the Bright Young Things, the rabble-rousing hedonists of the 1920s whose treasure hunts were a media obsession. One such game takes place at the 18th birthday party of Pamela Mitford, but ends in tragedy as cruel, charismatic Adrian Curtis is pushed to his death from the church neighboring the Mitford home.

The police quickly identify the killer as a maid, Dulcie. But Louisa Cannon, chaperone to the Mitford girls and a former criminal herself, believes Dulcie to be innocent and sets out to clear the girl's name...all while the real killer may only be steps away.

Great fun.

This narrator is excellent, the story was engaging, and at a certain point I thought I had it figured but I was wrong. This series is one where you find yourself sitting in your car or driving around the block again just to get to the end of a chapter. At the price of gas, that means it is really good!

Narrator

All the books are fantastic but my only complaint in all 4 is the narrator’s screaming, while doing other characters voices, especially Nancy!! It’s very disconcerting as the book’s voices of other characters, especially Louisa, are so low.. Quiet unsettling whole constantly adjusting volumes.. PLEASE tone it down if doing other books!!!

2nd book even better than the first!

The well thought out plot kept my interest all the way through.
I love all the well imagined characters, both based on real people, as well as the fictional protagonists.
And Rachel Atkins versatile narration really brings all the characters to life!
I couldn't wait each day to start listening and want to read more about the Mitfords and my favorite sleuths!

Not as good as the first book

Too many scenes were almost word for word from Downton Abby. Also many inconsistencies, drive me crazy! Story wasn’t as good as the first book.
