A wonderful afternoon's escapism

After a string of terrible book choices on my part, that either had inept narration or awful stories, I chanced upon this. I'm pleased to report that the story line is enchanting and engaging, the lead is feisty and the narrator brings the story to life. If you want to leave the dreariness of your everyday existence for an afternoon you could do worse than choose thiss book. Recommended.

Interesting paranormal

Would you listen to Broken: A Paranormal Romance again? Why?

Remembering thinking it was interesting that a man wrote a book with the primary character being female, and did a fairly good job of it. A nice twist with some refreshing take on fairies and the like.

Excellent Listen

Where does Broken: A Paranormal Romance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not usually a audiobook listener, but I found this book easy to get into as it was being narrated. Quite high in my audiobook ranking so far.

What did you like best about this story?

Light enough that I didn't feel like I needed to go back and reread any passages, but complex enough to hold my interest and attention. The text was extremely well spoken and I found that I had no trouble following along.

What does Jennifer Knighton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is perfectly pitched and measured; that carried the narration along at a very respectably clip without feeling rushed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I like to spread out my reading over a few days and I did the same with this story as well.

Any additional comments?

Worth the money. I recommend.

Nice novella

This was a good novella, just right for a break between longer books.

The story moves at a good pace. The characters aren't deep, but are likeable and consistent.

The story was full of "oh, that makes sense now" moments that I found quite enjoyable. (a big plus for me -- I can be annoyingly observant when it comes to seemingly inconsequential details, and am always delighted when I find out seeming inconsistencies were there for a good reason)

I'll probably purchase other books from this author.

The narrator sounded too young though. I had a hard time remembering this was a 24 year old, not a 16 year old, which was a bit disturbing at times. She was perfectly pleasant to listen to, but seems better suited to young adult fiction.

Good story ..

Once again, I was nabbed by the cover on this audio book. However, the narrators voice was not what I would have expected as it does not match the exotic feel and beauty of the story itself. The story was very bewitching and entertaining, but my preference for a more rich timbre in a voice is the only thing that I would change. I noted that some narrators, in the samples, are using a 'character' voice, and their own voice emerges once the characters part has passed. I thought the initial voice may have been the narrator in a teenage character voice, but that was not the case, it was the main narration throughout, which is more applicable to a different kind of story. But she was very articulate and expressive, if that is what you like. Everyone likes something different, and just because a voice is higher pitched, but still performing a narration well, does not mean it is bad and deserves to be fairly rated on the quality of the exhibition.
