Publisher's summary

After three years in Boston attending college, Mallory Wells has come home to Casper, Maine to care for her father, who is dying from cancer. She left Casper without looking back, leaving her small-town life and everyone in it, behind. Including her sexy high school sweetheart.

Luke Bates was devastated when Mallory left him for the city life. He managed to pull himself together and move on, even if only just barely. When Mallory shows up in town, Luke vows to stay away from her at all costs. So why does he want to spend as much time with her as he can? He knows she's going back to Boston eventually, but he just can't resist the lure of Mallory. Even if it means he's heartbroken again when she leaves.

Didn't Feel Genuine

This started out pretty good when Mallory left college and came home to take care of her ailing father. She had reservations because she didn't want to run into her ex-boyfriend Luke. Very quickly the story went south. I was confused the entire time about who was talking as there were no voice inflections to differentiate from Mallory or Luke or their friends. Along with that, the story strayed way off into left field for me.

There really wasn't much going on other than night after night of going to the local bar 'The Landing' and getting drunk and leaving poor old dad to fend for himself which according to the publisher's summary should have had some role in the story.

About the narrator: My thoughts are that Emily Lindsay has a good voice and just needs to work out some of the audio techniques and issues such as giving the characters different voices and frequently repeating lines.

I received this audiobook foc inx for an unbiased review.

Rekindled Love

Any additional comments?

THIS IS MY FIRST BOOK BY DAWN PENDLETON, AND THE FIRST FROM THE NARRATOR EMILY LINDSAY.

I WOULD SAY THIS WAS ON THE BORDER OF YA/NA. IT WAS A QUICK READ AT 4 HRS AND 55 MINS, THIS BOOK WAS INTERESTING READ, MALLORY IS A COLLEGE AGE GIRL WHO RETURNS BACK HOME TO HER SMALL TOWN HOME TO FIND OUT HER FATHER HAS CANCER. SHE'S IN COLLEGE NOW BACK IN BOSTON IN THE BIG CITY, AND SHE LEFT HER SMALL TOWN TO GET AWAY FROM HER EX-BOYFRIEND LUKE AND FOLLOW HER DREAMS. HER FATHER INSISTED SHE GO TO BOSTON, BUT IN THE LONG RUN KEPT THE FACT THAT HE CANCER FROM HER FOR YEARS. LUKE HER EX-BOYFRIEND WAS A FREQUENT VISITOR OF HER FATHER, AND MADE SURE HE WAS TAKEN CARE OF.

SEE THIS IS THE PART WHERE I THOUGHT WAS CHILDISH. MALLORY WAS A VERY SELFISH PERSON, ONLY CARED FOR HERSELF AND WHAT HER FEELINGS WERE. EVEN THOU HER FATHER DIDN'T FILL HER IN ON HIS CANCER, SHE MADE ME FEEL AS THOU SHE SACRIFICED HER TIME/LOVE TO SPEND THE ENDING MOMENTS WITH HER DAD....

I ENJOYED HER FRIENDS, AND LUKE. I WAS WONDERING IF WE WERE EVER GOING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH RAINEY (MALLORY'S FRIEND). THAT WAS WHAT KEPT ME INTRIGUED, BUT APPEARS IT MAY IN ANOTHER BOOK IN THE SERIES. OVER ALL THERE WAS A HEA, AND ONCE AGAIN MALLORY BEING THE BRAT SHE WAS FINALLY GOT WHAT SHE WANTED.

IN REGARDS TO THE NARRATOR, IT TOOK A WHILE TO ADJUST TO HER VOICE. ITS A LITTLE PITCHY AND THE EDITING ON THE AUDIO WAS AWFUL. SENTENCES WERE REPEATED, WORDS WERE DOUBLED. I'VE LISTENED TO ENOUGH AUDIO WHERE YOU CAN CATCH THAT KIND OF EDITING BUT THIS WAS VERY OBVIOUS AND DONE AT LEAST 10 TIMES THRU OUT THE BOOK.

OVER ALL I'M RATING THE BOOK 4 STARS.
