About this listen

Erin Doyle can't stand manwhores, and she particularly can't stand Brendan Langstrom - the guy who avoids relationships like the plague and never sleeps with the same girl twice.

She and Brendan have waged a war of mutual disdain for years, but when Brendan picks up the pieces after her world unravels, they'll be forced to admit that beneath their dislike is something else entirely - something they're not supposed to feel. Because Brendan isn't just her nemesis...he's also her fiancé's best friend.

Contains mature themes.

I loved the first book in this series. But I found this one to be a little frustrating. Brendan is a man-whore and his tendency to fall back into those habits was annoying. He would get all jealous of any guys talked to Erinn...but then he would act like he didn’t know her and talk with other women? It was confusing. He explains that later on and I enjoyed the book enough to stick with them. But there were several moments when I wanted to shake both the H and the h. There were enough good moments to keep me interested. But there were other things that made me cringe.

Frustrating...but also good

This was a great listen. I could feel the hate, the tension, the betrayal, the lust. Sooo good.

Really did enjoy the story but while the female narrator played the male narrative, it was slow and felt like it was too forced.

I love this author and her stories are usually have stronger, believable characters. There was so much miscommunication, aloofness from the heroine and it made her seem a little weak.

But I am glad I listened.

This story is so good. It has so many twists and turns into it. This has very broken people in it.

I really like the storyline but the heroin, “Erin” was extremely stupid with how she reacts to both men... Rob who is the fiancé lied and CHEATED on her with a girl from his work who went on the work merger for 5 months n never told her... then Branden who is Rob’s best friend, but actually liked her b/4 him, acted like an ass and got tongue tied towards her when they were younger but when he matures he’s back and fighting for her...
The female narrator talks nasally n does most of the book do I was kinda upset b/c I love it when there’s dual narrators

Would be great if Erin had some brains 🧠

This book in the series was even more enjoyable than the first. I found myself staying in my car listening to the audio far longer than necessary becaise there was never a good place to pause for the next commute. I was invested in Brendan and Erin's story. There were so many times I wanted to throttle one or both of them, but in the end the story went the way it was supposed to. I loved it.

Could not stop listening!

After listening to Waking Olivia, I was excited to learn that secondary characters Brendan and Erin had their own book. I really enjoyed Drowning Erin. The story was told through a dual point of view and in the present and past. We got to see how Erin and Brendan's relationship developed and how their "hate" or "dislike" for each other turned into friendship and love. Erin was such a different character than the one we met in Waking Olivia. She was still extremely likeable and relateable, but she was such a sad soul who basically gave up on herself, her wants, likes and dreams to please everyone else in her life, especially her fiance/Brendan's best friend, Rob. Erin had family secrets she was keeping from Rob because she wasn't sure how he would react being that he was so judgmental and condescending in a way. He really thought he was better than Erin and than Brendan. I hated the way he was with Erin and quite frankly I did not like Rob at all. He was a jerk from the beginning and those feelings solidified towards the end of the story. After he left for his business trip, leaving Erin behind, Brendan was the one who was looking out for Erin.

Erin was a protector of her family. She was the rock that kept it all together and it wasn't fair to her. I did not like Erin's mother and it was unfair the way she expected Erin to pick up the pieces every single time. The woman was all about appearances. When Brendan realized all that Erin was doing to protect her family, he became her confidant and her friend. Erin trusted all her deepest secrets to Brendan, who did not judge her, but wanted what was best for her. He was willing to do whatever to help Erin. Their relationship was complex, but so real.

The chemistry between these two characters was powerful. It was such a slow burn romance, but definitely inevitable. I really enjoyed this book.
