Publisher's summary

More than a decade before, when Paul was nothing but a child, fate dealt him a hand he couldn't win. Silenced him forever for speaking out against the former Alpha, stole his destiny, and robbed him of his place in the pack.

Presley Ginger, a tiny human female, couldn't have been further from what he expected to walk into the bar and alter his future. But he couldn't tell her anything about his wolf or his shift. Nothing. Bound by a direct order from the enforcer to keep her in the dark, his need for her would never see the light of day. Then the moon rose above him in the presence of his mate and changed everything.

For years, in the background is where he stayed, unable to find his voice. Until his rainbow-haired mate showed up in the Black Hills - with the answer in her hands.

Short book that reads like a BIG novel

I was so surprised with how much emotion and storyline this author could pack into a shorter book. There is struggle, and redemption, and some hot and heavy love! You feel for and root for Paul right away! This book also turned me on Jennifer Kacey....I will look for more of her books.

And I just have to mention I know P.G. was Presley Ginger's Nick name and it came to mean something else in the end, but I LOVED the irony of "P.G" since given her "studies" she was anything but!

I did receive this audiobook as a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I do highly recommend this book to any shifter fan in the mood for a little hot and heavy and a great story!

GOOD STAND-ALONE WITH HEA

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. This is my first "Black Hills Wolves" short. Reading over reviews off other works, I see that Paul is mentioned occasionally, as well as the other characters so I think if I was a follower of the series, this short, condensed story would pull up more from memory and add depth to it. But that being said, this "sad situation turning for the better" instant-love story was really cute. The town of Black Hills has peaked my interest so I may indulge in further study!

The narrator had a pleasant voice and she spoke slowly. There was a lot of "he said, she said" in the dialogue.

A Decent Short Story

Broken Silence is a supernatural romance, short story. At age twelve Paul spoke out to his alpha, the werewolf's pack leader. Angered by the child's honesty, the abusive alpha cut out Paul's tongue. Maimed and silenced, Paul's place in the pack was dramatically affected while his personality deteriorated until he became a social recluse. Then one day a petite female named Pressley walked into the bar he worked in and walked into his life with American Sign Language. From that moment, nothing would be the same.

I liked Broken Silence. I just didn't love it. There was nothing precisely wrong with the story. It just didn't grab me as strongly as it did some other reviewers I've read. If you like werewolves and supernatural romance stories, you will probably enjoy "Broken Silence." Finally, This audiobook was provided at no cost in exchange for an honest review, courtesy of Audio Book Boom.

Short story

What did you like best about Broken Silence? What did you like least?

I tried to listen to this book several time but couldn't get into it. The story jumps into Paul being young and I just couldn't follow it. The narration was off for me as well.

Do you think Broken Silence needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I think the book is not a stand alone book.

Loved It

I got this advanced reader copy via audiobook boom. I loved the way this shifter story played out. The hero is well loved by the whole community but he holds himself apart because his tongue was cut out when he was twelve years old. The heroine comes to the town and begins to use ASL (American Sign Language) and the whole town is surprised. They see Paul smile for the first time. The entire story is well written and the narration is great.

Short book that should be longer.

This is the first book I've listened by Jennifer Kacey, but I don't think it's going be the last. I
Don't believe a person could see someone turn into a wolf and have the reaction PG has. Her reaction doesn't ring true, unless it turns out she already knows about shifters. It's like this was supposed to be longer but someone came along and cut some out.
The narration was ok, just a little lackluster.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this voluntary review.
