Another Great Adventure

This series of books is just amazing and this book is no exception. Dane Maddock is (in my opinion) even better than Indiana Jones. If you like hidden temples, mythical objects, and great adventure with a dash of history and excellent fiction writing... Then you need this series.

Jeffery Kafer is, of course, one of my favorite narrators. He is definitely in my top 3 of all time. Excellent narration as usual.

I requested and received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Entertaining, witty, interesting

Unfortunately I have not heard the earlier books in this series, but will be going back to the beginning. Lots of interesting characters. Lots of action, and adventure. The facts of the story were well thought out. As a Christian I was a little concerned about the insinuation at the end, but hopefully it takes a different turn in later volumes, and I really I hope there's nothing like that in the earlier ones. Overall I thought it was very entertaining and fast moving. The narrator was good. There were times I could feel the emotions of the characters, but his voices were a blurred. There were a couple times I couldn't distinguish between characters, and at least two times the British characters faded into midwesterners. In his defense there are as I said a lot of character and I'm sure it would be tough to have separate voices for all.

More personal adventure for Dane, with action

Would you consider the audio edition of Buccaneer to be better than the print version?

This is an older audio book for Jeffrey. And I enjoyed it. Jeffrey was free to voice different people with different tones and accents, making them all unique and easy to know who's talking in the story. This is just fun to listen to. Jeffrey's voice feels perfect for Dane and Bones's personalities, along with the crew around them. As always, the audio is seamless and clear.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Our guys meet Avery for the first time in this book. She seems to fit in perfectly. lol. And there's a reason for that. We learn it here. I love Angel, Bone's sister. She's one kick butt kind of woman, just as tough as we would expect. She gets into the rough and tough fights just like the boys. Oh and this woman can hold her own in those fights.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think I say it every time I listen to one of these books, I just love the easy sense of humor I get from Dane Maddock, Bones, and all around them. They make me smile and I enjoy their dangerous adventures. Avery even has a wonderful sense of humor, even in a time of stress. lol.

Any additional comments?

*I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

I enjoyed learning a bit more about Dane's parents in this book. The project we are on is connected to his father's research. Sadly, his parents were killed in an auto accident, but we see their impact on Dane which gives us a feel for them.

We also see the beginnings of other groups that could be trouble for Dane and Bones after this book, and I know it will be. Also that Dane and crew will work with in the future.

What they find! Oh my! Then my minds wheels start turning. How did something like that come into existence so many years ago? In a time it shouldn't be! Very interesting. I can't tell you what they find as it'll take the wow away from you. You just have to read or listen to find out.

I enjoy the writing as we focus on the current job/project that we are on. There is always enough to bring us to want more as well, to solve all the mysteries behind the ages old treasures. And there are more books to do just that. Though, there is two places where the wrong character was named, someone who wasn't even there at that moment. But, I'll over look that with the love I have for these characters and thrilling stories. (Heck, this audio is from 2012, so the book could have been re-edited to fix it since then, in case you read it.)

I find I get anxious when listening to these stories. I want to sit and listen to it all on a fast speed so I can get the whole story right now! lol. I don't. I listen at regular speed to savior all that's said and the performance by Jeffrey.

An Intriguing Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this was definitely worth the listen. The Dane Maddock Adventure series is a fresh adventure story with exciting morsels of historical and religious angles.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the characters Dane & Bones. They had a very realistic relationship, clearly stemming from years of working and playing together. The double romance blooming simultaneously was a little over the top and felt awkward.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Jeffrey Kafer?

No. Which goes to say I'll be reading the rest of the this series.
It took me triple the time to listen to this book because I kept rewinding or stopping because the voices weren't varied enough for me to know how was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The new sibling announcement moved me. I was in disbelief and denial after the revelation. Skip the chapter after it; neither of them stayed in character and ... Maddock discovered something phenomenal and they were making plans. You don't stop to play catch up.

Any additional comments?

Overall, the star rating is a 3. But very close to a 4 I would love to pick up the book to give it another chance to pull me in. This had a great premise but fell short on deliver because of the romantic angle, new sibling, and the narrator.

Dane and Bones are at it Again

David Wood has again given is a fast-paced trip with all the right elements to keep it interesting. Pirate Treasure, Coded Maps, Secret Societies, and new twist to the crew. There is always excitement and some levity and they travel to throughout the Americas and the United Kingdom in search of and aided by the relics of King Arthur. Battling not only the elements and the challenges of Treasure Hunting but a modern-day foe looking for the Relics to support their own Secret Society. This is a very entertaining audiobook but sometimes the twist and turns happen so fast that you are trying to turn back a page to keep up.
This was the second Dane Maddock Adventure I have read and it is the best.

King Arthur was he real!!

Dane and Bones are again on the hunt, this time for Captain Kidd's treasure. The search takes a dangerous turn, as Dane meets the sister he never knew about and the Dominion and another secret society are also on the trail.

Jeffrey Kaffer as usual does a good job bringing the Dane and Bones world to life.

Non-Stop Action

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bones 'The funny guy' never seems to be a sidekick their for entertainment, although he is the funniest character he is a critical part of the story.

What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He really brings the characters to life. His accents are spot-on.

Any additional comments?

This may be the best book in the series so far, it is full of non-stop action, humorous but not too much. In this book we have a treasure hunt, a kidnapping and family - lots of fun.
