About this listen

Buddhism is all about training the mind, and boot camp is an ideal training method for this generation's short attention span. The chapters in this audiobook can be listened in any order, and are simple and easy to understand. Each story, inspirational quote, and teaching offers mindfulness-enhancing techniques that anyone can relate to. You don't need to be a Buddhist to find the Buddha's teachings motivational. As the Dalai Lama says, "Don't try to use what you learn from Buddhism to be a Buddhist; use it to be a better whatever-you-already-are."

So whether it's Mother Teresa's acts of charity, Gandhi's perseverance, or your aunt Betty's calm demeanor, as long as you're motivated to be better today than you were yesterday, it doesn't matter who inspires you. Regardless of religion, geographical region, race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, flexibility, or vulnerability, if you do good you feel good, and if you do bad you feel bad.

Buddhism isn't just about meditating. It's about rolling up your sleeves to relieve some of the suffering in the world. If you are ready to be a soldier of peace in the army of love, welcome to Buddhist Boot Camp!

I was hesitant about purchasing this audiobook so glad I did what a little golden gem it is. It’s not about religion or trying to get you to follow anything religions. To me the book was about being true to you yourself. There are lots of lovely quotes and examples of everyday living, its common sense and easy to follow. I felt so in tune with this book I was even finishing his sentence. The author’s narration is excellent. All I can say is Namaste.

Little Gem

This was a good introduction to basic principles and theories of Buddhism life. It wasn't as much about Buddhism as it was about a framework to apply to your daily life. I found that there were inspirational sections in the book, and I also learned that I agree with much of these philosophies. I wish more people would ascribe to the principle of not having to agree with the viewpoint of others on various things (such as religion and politics), but you do have to respect them. As the author points out, who knows who is right?

Thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. Write down a lot of little thoughts. Super quick and simple but profound enough to stick with me.

Timber is a sweet soul. The divine is strong within him. He talks a lot about compassion, taming addictions, building bridges, not being angry, meditation and seeing the perspective of others’ non-judgmentally. Lessons are succinct and get to the point but still provide some good examples from his life and others. Highly recommend and God Bless you Timber Hawkeye for making this inspiring and helpful course. It was exactly what I needed. I am working on implementing these lessons in my life and it has already made me a better, more compassionate human :-)

Inspiring with great tenets and case studies to help you enact them in your life.

Loved it! I have re-listened at least a dozen times, and have recommended it to all of my friends, family, and health coaching clients. I don't consider myself a Buddhist, but I apply the principles I've learned from this book to my life daily.

Buddhism described in a simple manner. (Is there a better way to describe such a subject?) I can apply these to my life. And already am now, thanks to the time it takes to read a book. And I see changes happening. Good changes in my life. Thank you, Timber Hawkeye!

A concise but exquisitely insightful examination and explication of Buddhism 's core ideas and principles. No estoteric, arcane jargon here just well-chosen, pelucid examples that exemplify Buddhist thinking and acting in the real world.
