About this listen

Owner of the Crewel World needlework shop and part-time sleuth Betsy Devonshire heads for the Minnesota north woods to renovate an old cabin. But beneath the awful linoleum is something even uglier - the skeleton of a Nazi. Betsy's investigation yields the site of a former German POW camp, a mysterious crocheted rug, and an intricately designed pattern of clues to a decades-old crime.

Fabulous Mystery

Enjoyed the story. Contained a nice mystery however most of the plot was about Betsy (which I do enjoy).
I felt the ending was poor.
The plot of the mystery started out strong but was a bit lazy, I feel that most readers/ listeners probably guessed the answer about a third of the way through.

Enjoyable but predictable

Susan Boyce nailed it once again.. Monica Ferris books are easy to listen to and the stories are good mysteries.

Monica Ferris has outdone herself with this one. Thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. I highly recommend this book.

Great story

This is one of the BEST of the Needlecraft Mysteries. When Betsy accompanies Jill and Lars and their children to the north woods to work on their old cabin, she is looking for a little R & R. What she doesn't expect is another murder investigation. But when they pull up the old linoleum and discover beautiful solid wood floors beneath, they discover more than they bargained for. An old skeleton dating to WWII is under the floor boards. I loved the dialog with Jill and Lars kids in this story, and how they all tried to keep from discussing the dead body around them. 😜 The historical information about the German POW camp was really interesting. Excellent story and conclusion.

I enjoy this series immensely and am working my way through it, book by book. I sorely missed the voice of Susan Boyce over the last several books and am glad to see she is back.

Although an interest in various types of needlework may seem to make these books more enjoyable, it's not really required. Fun, cozy series. Love the characters and the Minnesota settings.

Thank goodness Susan Boyce is back!

This is the first book that I have listened to since book #10. I didn’t listen to #11 and 12 because of the narrator and #13 because I don’t like witches and witchcraft. I was glad to listen to Susan Boyce again though Godwin still doesn’t sound right. The plot was simple and I guessed what happened halfway through the story but I still enjoyed it. I will be listening to the next book.

Enjoyed the series again
