Great short story

The only problem I had with this book is that I wish it was longer.

I love the John Corey character and have been waiting (not so patiently) for another one of his books to come out so when I found this one I thought I would give it a go even though it was less than 2 hours long.
It was a fun quick paced story full of the John Corey trade mark smarta#* sarcastic remarks and dry humour.

Nice Tease of an Audio Book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Good short story and like most things Scott Brick does, very enjoyable to listen to.

Engaging , thoughtful and very enjoyable!

What a nice way to solve a murder and do it without it being 15 or 20 hours long! Bring on more of these short stories

Surprised

While it was an entertaining listen (Scott Brick is a terrific John Corey, and John Corey is a terrific character), it was surprisingly predictable. A 'who dun it' that was easily to figure out.

Lackluster Interval Training from Nelson

Being a fan of Nelson DeMille I was dissapointed. Getting through it was no problem since its length is brief as it was intended and possibly the brevity was part and parcel of the lack of development. I am a huge fan of audiobooks as a means to occupy time, driving, exercising, etc. and am well aware of the peril to the author when 'voice talent' is introduced into mix. In general I find that it is a slippery slope. In this case, Scott Brick detracts from the overall story with his lack of comedic timing and his rather narrow range. Yeah, you can quick see that I am not a fan of Mr. Brick. Few are the narrators that add and embellish, but they are out there and I actually look for material they narrate. I am happy to listen to talent that do not detract, but Mr. Brick is not one of them. I will continue to read Mr. DeMille.

Glacial

Good book but moves at a glacial speed.
Sounds like they are going to Montana, but it took too long.

Dramatically funny rather than mysteriously good

John Cory as a detective truly fit some stereotypes. The store appear to be dramatically funny rather than mysteriously copy cat of who done it or Clue. Nevertheless, this book was a good short read about one of my best detectives.

Best

This another great book by one of the BEST crime authors of our time. John Corey is my favorite detectives, he is up there with Harry Hole and Harry Bosch.

Jolly good story spiked with good sense of humor.

Good stuff. It is well written and logically concluded with a great sense of humor.

He's back

Loved it. I mean I can't wait for The panther which has Corey back, and Scott Brick does a good job with him. I have read all the Corey books and was really upset when I thought they were all done so this has given me somthing to look forward to. I admit that Demille's other books are nice but nothing entertaining as much as Corey
