About this listen

As snow begins to fall in Sequoia, things have settled into a routine. Both Jaguar and Rebekah have opened their businesses, the merchants on Main Street are preparing for the Christmas sales season, and Zion has moved forward with her plans to open a second Caffeinator location. Her relationship with Tate has progressed, even if they find it difficult to get time alone, and Logan seems to be settling in.

Just when they think everything is nearly perfect, a mysterious man appears and throws everything into chaos, threatening Logan’s future and dragging Zion and Tate into a new mystery. With the stakes as high as the snow drifts, Zion must help Tate solve a murder that reminds her of the reason she came to Sequoia in the first place.

Really fun book to enjoy

In Caffe Machiatto by M.L. Hamilton, Tate Mercer's 17-year-old foster son, Logan Baxter, faces a big challenge when his father resurfaces after 11 years. He wants nothing to do with Mitchell Baxter, whom he hasn't seen since his mother took him and fled after his father's routine beatings of her escalated to a beating of Logan at the age of 6. When the judge refuses even to hear Logan's wishes in the matter and grants Mitchell visitation rights, Logan, in fear and anger, grabs his skateboard and takes off, not to return until 2 a.m. Logan's refusal to disclose his activities takes a dramatic turn upon the discovery of the murder of Mitchell Baxter. Tate and Zion, his girlfriend and the owner of the Caffeinator coffee shop, will have to work extra hard to find the truth behind this murder.

Caffe Machiatto is another great book by the delightful Hamilton. By this, book four in the series, the characters could have sunk into a set of static natures, but we see them continue to develop. The plot points set up situations that test the characters and open up interesting possibilities for their natures. For example, the introduction of Logan's father creates unique opportunities for change within Logan, Tate, Zion, and the others in Sequoia. I was very impressed by the way the plot and the characters worked together so effectively.

Kelley Hazen performs the audio edition of this book, which I enjoyed a lot. Hazen does a lot to immerse listeners in the story and connect to the situation. She makes the characters seem like real people and the plot seem true to life. Hazen's performance is one of fun and delight.

I highly enjoyed listening to Caffe Machiatto, a truly pleasurable book. I really loved the interconnected nature of the plot and character growth. This book is a real delight to listen to. I give it five stars!

Love it

This is such a great series and the author and narrator pair well together. I love the range of voices/characters this narrator can achieve. She gives each character their own personality. With that being said, it was really hard to put this book down! Lots of plot turns that keep you guessing. Community

Caffe Macchiato by M.L. Hamilton is a delightful addition to the Zion Sawyer cozy mystery series. I love how there is such a great sense of small town community in Sequoia. Having characters from previous books by this author have cameo appearances only adds to the story. I love how Zion and Tate continue their relationship. The author keeps things clean, but one can use their imagination. The imagery in this book is so well done, I can visualize many details. Kelley Hazen is perfect in bringing the characters to life with her distinguished voices. The emotions she puts in her voice are spot on. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will most definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I love the coffee kiosk in this story.

Great Read

Caffe Macchiato was another great read by M.L. Hamilton. This is book four in the Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery Series. Things are finally settling in Sequoia. Jaguar and Rebekah have finally opened their businesses and Zion is looking to open her second Caffeinator location. Her and Tate are growing as a couple even though they don't have any alone time. Tate and Logan seem to be getting along well with their new relationship as foster father and foster son. There is one person who is looking to get their way but things don't go as he plans when he is discovered dead. I enjoyed reading about Zion and Tate looking into the murder. I can't wait to read more of what happens in Sequoia.

4th in Series

I totally enjoy all the characters of Sequoia in this mystery series especially with the narration. In this book the main characters are Zion Sawyer, Tate and Logan and other town characters during the Christmas time. Logan’s father Mitch Baxter shows up to take over custody and is found dead and Logan is suspect. Also Logan finds out he has half-brother. As usually it is Tate and Zion to investigate the real killer. . Recommend if you enjoy cozy mystery series but suggest you listen from the start to know the characters. Keep them coming. An Awesome Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining. Life has settled into a nice pace for the residents of Sequoia. With the first snow of the season comes trouble for Tate and Logan. That trouble leads Tate and Zion into another murder case. The characters and the story line is so enthralling you just keep listening much longer then you intended. This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world. Hopefully Book 5 will be ready soon.

Caffe Macchiato

Check out this next book in A Zion Sawyer Cozy Mystery series. All your favorite characters in Sequoia are back, and the relationships continue to blossom. Logan is a central character in the story.

M.L. Hamilton does a great job of building on the characters she has created. I’m so invested in this series... I feel like I really know the characters.

Kelley Hazen is a master narrator. She brings each of the characters to life with different voices and mannerisms. It’s always a joy to listen to her performances.

Another good installment in the series...:)

"Caffe Macchiato" is another good installment in the series.
As we visit Sequoia for the fourth time, we know exactly what to expect: a fast paced plot, a murder which hits close to home for Zion and Tate, and some good twists and turns on the way to a satisfactory ending and the solution of the crime, with yet more background stories of the personal lives of most of the characters that we've got to like throughout books 1-3...:)

Ms Hamilton doesn't disappoint. Her characters live - they develop, they go through their personal ups and downs, and they learn from experience, sometimes the hard way, that life means constant change, with a lot of surprises for us on the way to the end (whatever that end may be). The murder case, as always, is engaging emotionally and makes us keep fingers crossed for Zion and Tate and their investigation. And the town of Sequoia, with its colourful citizens, becomes even closer to our hearts (I really feel like I'd like to move there:)).

Narration by Ms Hazen is great, as in all the books in the series. She keeps up the steady pace of her reading, with great voicing of individual characters and a fantastic balance between the narrative and the emotional... A job very well done:)
