About this listen

Set in a summer camp, this sweet and sharp screwball comedy set in a summer camp for queer teens examines the nature of toxic masculinity and self-acceptance.

Sixteen-year-old Randy Kapplehoff loves spending the summer at Camp Outland, a camp for queer teens. It's where he met his best friends. It's where he takes to the stage in the big musical. And it's where he fell for Hudson Aaronson-Lim - who's only into straight-acting guys and barely knows not-at-all-straight-acting Randy even exists.

This year, however, it's going to be different. Randy has reinvented himself as "Del" - buff, masculine, and on the market. Even if it means giving up show tunes, nail polish, and his unicorn bedsheets, he's determined to get Hudson to fall for him.

But as he and Hudson grow closer, Randy has to ask himself: How much is he willing to change for love? And is it really love anyway, if Hudson doesn't know who he truly is?

Ah Gay Love

This story is phenomenal and as the title of the book suggests, campy. I love it!

So cute, I loved every moment of it. I was rooting for both charactors the whole way.

Such a sweet Romcom

I saw this book at a book shop and had to get it here. this was such a sweet book I wish I had when I was 16. loved how the camp is in love with an Asian guy. I rarely see that in media. thank you for that as an Asian man. hope there will be a second book soon

MAKES ME FEEL SEEN 🌈👍🏳️‍🌈✨

This book really shows what it’s like to be a teenager and queer. It doesn’t just focus on coming out or straight people reactions to us. It makes me feel seen and not alone. Especially Hal’s situation with his family.

Love it!

I didn’t know what to expect when I purchased this book but I absolutely love it! I have nothing negative to say about this book. I love a story that has a beginning middle and end and doesn’t leave me in suspense or confused. I’m happy I decided to read this! I need more stories like this.

yes homo

Great narrative of internalized homophobia, expression, and experimenting with your identity. Some good insight into queer culture and history

Boring and predictable

The performance by the reader was great and what initially drew me to the audiobook. Unfortunately, the story was incredibly boring and predictable. The “theater gays are more virtuous than bigoted sports gays” trope has been overplayed since Glee.

Sweet & Imaginative

This was a little young for me, but that’s on me.

A good read for teens about when to be yourself and how. Very unapologetically (for the most part) queer. I would die for Mark.
