About this listen

Aisha owns her own printing company, creating custom shirts, mugs, and other things. She's guarded and has a hard time allowing men to get close to her on a serious level. One heartbreak was enough for her. She eventually learns the only one who can heal that hurt she felt years ago is the same guy who caused it. But is that possible knowing the secret she's holding onto?

Gage is doing the only thing he ever wanted, playing professional basketball. After being injured he finds himself coping with it in unethical ways. A trip back home is meant to help him regroup and refocus to get back into the game, but when he's hit with another blow, he sinks deeper. Now he's stuck battling internal demons and trying to stay above water. Will he be able to bounce back or will he lose it all from life humbling him?

These two deal with forbidden love, secrets, deception, and hitting rock bottom. Is there love enough to overcome it all?

Contains mature themes.

Good Stuff

I really liked this book. I think it was a good start line, but it definitely had holes. For example, your families are so close, but you’ve never seen her baby. :-/. Also, the fact that she even had a baby should’ve been a clue. But when you just accept the “holes”, it is a really good listen.

Aisha was horrible!

Aisha would of made me run away! She played games and wanted her way. S he made horrible decisions because of her emotions. I still liked the book.

Sweet Story

I did not care for Elena’s narration at all, but Winston was on point as usual. I love listening to all of the author’s books and can’t wait for the next one.

Decent Story. Narration could be better.

The female voice was a bit too Minnie Mouse-ish for me. I don't know if this was purposeful or just this person's voice. The story was decent, some things didn't make sense but overall it held my attention to the end.

Home is where the heart is

Gage, the hotheaded and injured basketball star returns home to complete his healing, while searching for a new contract for his professional return runs into Aisha, the hometown girl who is still connected to him in more ways than just being his best friend’s sister.

As an audible listen, it was okay. Loved Winston James narration, and loved the narration the female narrator delivered for the characters, except Aisha, the main character. It was robotic instead of authentic, like the others, which took away from story.

The loveable characters throughout this story were the secondary characters: Tae, Elijah, Breann, Bailey, and the parents were the glue that will keep you entertained. Except Reggie and Adrianna, who still didn’t get their just due, in my opinion. And what happened to the owner of the chocolate store?

Admittedly, neither Aisha nor Gage, the main characters, were likeable characters to start. Aisha was dead wrong for what she did to Gage, but Gage was mean, arrogant, and immature. He was so hard to deal with that it made easier to accept why Aisha did what she did. Eventually, her maturity and wise decisions regarding Gage began to change the view of Aisha, and I found myself loving her no-nonsense approach. It wasn’t until Gage began therapy that he truly started to change, and I softened to him. There were several important issues that were addressed throughout that I don’t want give away, but I’m glad the author tackled them and of how she approached it! Tay Mo’Nae did her job because I did not root for them for the majority of the book, but by the end, I was excited for their new lot in life.
