About this listen

Welcome to Normal, Kentucky - where nothing is normal.

When the principal of Normal High School asks Mae West to teach a semester on small-town economics, since she helped bring the thriving economy to Normal, Kentucky, when she used her brilliant ideas to bring the Happy Trails Campground back to life, Mae is thrilled and happy to teach the young people.

But when a fellow teacher and archery coach, Roger Carlson, is found stone-cold dead, face down in one of the Happy Trails Campground campers with an arrow sticking out of his back, it puts a damper on Mae's excitement to teach.

Mae's hankering to snoop into the coach's private life and find out exactly why he was renting a camper in Happy Trails and not living at home with his young wife. Her efforts don't leave her short on suspects. Especially since Mae uncovered many unhappy parents who had relied on an archery scholarship and perfect ACT scores as their child's ticket to get out of Normal and go to college.

Mae has to be careful or she just might find an arrow with her name written on it.

fun story with wacky characters

Mae and the Laundry Ladies are the best. Read along as Mae solves another cozy mystery murder.

The narration MAKES these stories!

Stories are all great and drag you on - but Johanna’s narration is the bomb dot com!

Love this series

Always attention grabbing and interesting plot. The narration is a bit drawn out so I increase the speed.

Love this series

This is a fun read for any road trip. It is a dramatic reading, so the characters really come to life. I enjoy the twists in these novels.

Knew from the beginning who the killer was.

The narrator did a wonderful job. I'm sad to say though. this book was not nearly as good as the previous ones. It seemed really short, like the author was in a rush to finish the book. I wish I could've returned it.

This is actually worse than the first three books. 😕

The talent of an author, or a narrator, usually improves as a series progresses. However, it seems that Kappes and Parker have both become even more illiterate. 😕

Contrived

These stories are in desperate need of an editor. There are silly mistakes throughout.
The plot/characters are just a bit too easy and a lot underdeveloped.
But if you’re looking for something where you don’t need to focus, this is it.

Good performance not so great storyline

I enjoy this series immensely but this one didn’t do it for me. I will continue to read them without a doubt.

Entertaining short read.

Entertaining short read, don’t look for accurate accents though. I was looking for a quick cozy mystery to pass an afternoon and this hit the spot.
