About this listen

Wed by proxy to a baron old enough to be her grandfather, Lady Anne trudges up the gangway of a galleon that will deliver her into the arms of a tyrant. Crestfallen, she believes her disastrous life cannot get worse - until she awakes to the blasts of cannon fire. Facing certain death, Anne trembles in her stateroom while swords clash and the chilling screams of battle rage on the deck above. When a rugged Highlander kicks in her door, she prays for a swift end.

But Laird Calum MacLeod has a reason for plundering the ship - and it's not a stunning English lass. With no other choice, he takes Anne to his crumbling keep on the isle of Raasay and sends a letter of ransom to her husband. In time, Anne grows to understand MacLeod's plight and finds it increasingly difficult to resist Calum's unsettling charm - until the baron sends a reply agreeing to terms.

Ripped from passion that will be forever seared into their souls, will Anne and Calum risk everything for love?

Loved the storyline in this love story. Had me worried at a few turns, but great book. Used a few words several times but that's the only thing I noticed.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

absolutely. exceptional read, could not put it down.

What does Paul Woodson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I had actually read the book first, and I didn't get the same feel or overall understanding. Its more intense as an audio than just reading alone.

breathtaking

I really enjoyed the story it was a very well laid out plot. Plenty of info without being overkill. However, the narrator killed it for me. I almost stopped by the second chapter. His Scottish ascent sounded like Dracula, I kept waiting for him to say blah blah blah. His poor performance was very distracting.

Good Story but...

No, this isn’t the best highlander series I’ve ever listened to, but it was an entertaining listen. It also isn’t a book I would likely ever lust to again. That being said,it was a satisfying Romance package listen.

Predictable but, I enjoyed it!

This was my first book by this author, Amy Jarecki. While I found the writing very good I had a feeling that this story was written by a man. Page after page of battles made me jump sections of the book to get to the ‘romance.’

Battles were to much.
