Publisher's summary

Mourning the death of his father and gravely injured at the hands of the English, Jamie Fraser finds himself running with a band of mercenaries in the French countryside, where he reconnects with his old friend, Ian Murray. Both are nursing wounds, both have good reason to stay out of Scotland, and both are still virgins despite several opportunities to remedy that deplorable situation with ladies of easy virtue.

But Jamie's love life becomes infinitely more complicated - and dangerous - when fate brings the young men into the service of Dr. Hasdi, a Jewish gentleman who hires them to escort two priceless treasures to Paris. One is an old Torah; the other is the doctor's beautiful daughter, Rebekah, destined for an arranged marriage. Both Jamie and Ian are instantly drawn to the bride-to-be - but they might be more cautious if they had any idea who they're truly dealing with.

please be short!

3 stars because I liked the overall story. It was, however, quite painful to listen to, as the narrator Allan, had absolutely no quality to his voice and he made Jamie sound like a disinterested old Scottish man with a brogue impediment. Ian sounded more like a girl than the actual girl in the story. I had to look at the index to make sure, hopefully, it was a short book. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had been able to listen to it

A little disappointing

The story was good, but the performance was so bad that it really distracted me. I'm a die hard Outlander fan but I had to struggle through this book. It's a decent explanation of things that happen in later books but I could have skipped it and been happy. I really wish Ms. Porter had performed this.

The relationship between Jamie and Ian.

I liked the fact that they grew up together, and Ian’s father told him to always be at the laird’s right to protect his weak side.

Enjoyed the Accent

It was a good depiction of human cluelessness, though I could not follow the story, only bits and pieces caught my attention...

Just OK

It was more war than I expected. It was hard to follow who was boss.

Diana does it again!

I love the way Diana writes because she allows you to see, touch, feel and even smell everything in her books. That is what gives the reader the ability to imagine each and every character she brings to her novels.

Virgins

Of all her Novellas this is my favorite of Diana Gabaldon’s series of them. Must be because it’s solely about Jamie and Ian...🥃. Finished the books (second time, first time I read the books)0. Awaiting Go Tell It To The Bees! Until then I will definitely start over from “Outlander”.

Good Story

A bit of insight as to Jamie and Ian's life before Clair came along. Hearing a different voice for Jamie was weird but a good job.
