About this listen

Dead men tell no tales

When Corporal Kaylin Neya is assigned front desk duty—a task hated by every Hawk—the only thing she can look forward to besides an endless stream of complaints is visits from a dotty old woman. She always brings baked goods along with information passed on by her friends…who happen to be ghosts no one else can see. But then the old woman’s invisible friends have news about Severn Handred: his unusual weapon has caught their attention. Concerned, Kaylin accompanies the woman home because she has a few questions to ask these so-called ghosts.

Sadly, Kaylin can also see them. And she can see other spirits in the woman’s house as well—four children who’ve been trapped there for decades. When Kaylin looks into the deaths in the records at the Halls of Law, something doesn’t add up. Factor in a building that isn’t supposed to exist, and nothing makes sense. But Kaylin is a Hawk, and she’s determined to free the trapped ghosts of the children, even if she’s suddenly landed in the middle of the bad kind of Barrani history. Someone doesn’t want the past to be uncovered, and they’re perfectly willing to destroy Kaylin if it preserves the secrets of the dead…

Amazing as always. Wish we had 4 more ready to read. Love this story line and the narrator is perfect! Thank you for another installment.

Fantastic. Leaves me wanting MORE

No character development and no progression in the overall story. You can skip to the next novel without missing anything. I love the previous novels and hope the next will be better.

Disappointed

Continuation of this series is excellent as all the books in the series. No foul language. No bedroom situation.

Another great addition to a great series

I love this series and am grateful that I can now listen to the books. This author is amazing, and the narrator is great as well. I am so excited for the next book in the series.

A heart warming story

Every one of her stories is amazing and keeps my attention. Her creativity is something I am in awe of. Calen Nia seems to keep her sense of truth and self through all her adventures.

Fabulous

The conversation between characters dragged and while her story telling is beautiful there was a lot of redundancy. Lots of telling more than showing in the structure of the book. But maybe that was the point. I feel like the series is building to a massive event but what could it be?! Either way, it was enjoyable.

Lovely but steeped in conversation and less action

I love the characters of this series, and their adventures are exciting and gripping. I love Kaylin and her merry band. And the narrator is wonderful with her range of voices and acting ability. Well worth your time!

This is a wonderful series!

A little too deep for me, although I love Kristin as the narrator for the story.

Excellent narrator

Brava, Sagara sensei! I am crying with so many emotions, it is once again a gorgeous work only you could write!! Thank you, sincerely, for your constancy and kindness in midwifing these stories and people into the world for us to share in them, too.

I freaking adore this series

A grand place for us to leave the story of Kaylin, her friends — in eternity.
