About this listen

A mail-order bride, a town overrun with tourists, and illegal art. How on Earth will Claire and Chapel Springs survive?

With the success of her Operation Marriage Revival, life is good for Claire Bennett. That is, until the mayor's brother blabs a secret: Claire's 19-year-old son, Wes, has married a Brazilian mail order bride who is eight years older than him. When Claire tries to welcome her new daughter-in-law, she's ridiculed, rebuffed, and rejected. Loving this girl is like hugging a prickly cactus. Will Claire and her family survive her son's marriage?

Lydia Smith is happily living alone and running her spa. Then the widow on the hill becomes a blushing bride. Along with her new marriage, she has a dream to expand her business by adding guest rooms. Things are going according to plan. That is, until her groom's adult son moves in on everything. Will her dream survive her stepson?

From the first sighting of a country music star in Claire's gallery, The Painted Loon, to the visit of a Hollywood diva, Chapel Springs is inundated with stargazers, causing lifelong residents to flee the area. When her best friends, Patsy and Nathan, put their house on the market, Claire is forced to do something or lose the closest thing to a sister she's got. With her son's future at stake and the town looking to her to solve their problems, it's Claire who needs a guardian angel.

Great Book

I had listened to Chapel Springs Revival and was hooked. Went to the second book Chapel Springs Survival and was as captivated as the first. Claire and Patsy are a blast along with the rest of the characters. Looking forward to listening to more books by Ane Mulligan.

Cute story with good messages

I enjoyed reading the other books in this series and this one also had me chuckling at Claire’s antics. Lots of fun Southern expressions and Claire expressions.. it takes place in a different decade so some technology mentioned was outdated but I didn’t mind. The message came through, that we should not be quick to judge/stereotype people based on their clothing, age, intelligence or lack of it, language, or ethnicity. The audio version was great, complete with southern accents!

Chapel Springs Survival

Chapel Hill is in trouble again. The re-visit to this coastal town was just what I needed. The people are trying to keep up with all the tourists that returned after the makeover in the first book. Some of the characters made you love to hate them, while others you just loved. The story grows on you with serious problems with a big serving of humor on top. I want to know what's next for this cozy town!!!!!!

The narration was well done. The characters were excellently portrayed.

Chapel Springs Survival

This was a great sequel to Chapel Springs Revival. While some of the events still seem pretty unbelievable, the storyline was great, and kept me interested to the end. Actually the ending was fantastic! What a great story of God's grace and forgiveness. The narrator is fantastic, her ability to change voices and sound completely different is fascinating. She made the story come alive.

The Plan Worked, Now What?

The antics, planning and hard work by Claire, Patsy and others worked too well in bringing tourists to their small picturesque town of Chapel Springs. They are now inundated with happy tourists and very unhappy residents. Some of the residents are now looking to move away including Claire’s best friend Patsy. What can be done to keep the residences and tourists happy? Small town politics at its worse and its best.

On top of this there are several family and life surprises, both good and not so good, for Claire, Patsy and Lydia. I was in stitches over the illegal art parts.

Ann Mulligan has created a great small town with a cast of varied and entertaining characters. I really felt like I was one of the residents.

This time narrator Julie Lancelot is joined by Sherry Granader and Jenn O’Dell. The three narrators are a wonderful pairing and do a great job with the voices, emotions and inflections of the various characters. It was a pleasure to listen to how well they meshed together.

I wonder what is up next for the residences of Chapel Springs?

Cute story

The author does a wonderful job with the whimsical descriptions and has a way of creating a lively picture for the readers. Getting to know the main character and her charm and trials is a fun, quirky, yet introspective journey. The narrator made the characters come even more alive with her darling southern drawl. Truly a pleasure to listen to.
