The anticipated conclusion of the Checkmate Duet from a secret duo of best-selling authors! Checkmate: This Is Love is an enemies-to-lovers romance that will have you crying with laughter one moment and screaming in frustration the next...but you'll be begging to play the game with The King.
Game on.
***
Viola Fisher is the epitome of perfection.
She despises my one-night stands and mocks my less-than-classy habits.
She's smart, beautiful, and too good to be true.
And I want her.
If she were anyone else, I'd have made my move years ago, but considering she's my best friend's little sister, she's always been off-limits. Not to mention how much she loathes my very existence.
Hating me is her religion, but needing her is mine. Her sexy curves and filthy smart mouth make me want her even more, and I'm more determined than ever to change her mind.
I'll prove I'm done playing games.
But until then, we'll continue to play by her rules.
Viola Fisher may have won the battle, but the war isn't over yet.
Checkmate, princess.
Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.
This Is Love is book two in the Checkmate Duet. It is recommended that listeners start with This Is War.

Lia Langola does a pretty decent job narrating. But as mentioned in my review about the first in the series, please use a male narrator for stories with alternate perspectives.

Oh what a ride this was of Travis and Viola! I really enjoyed this duet. Between the banter and the angst, it hit on every level for me! This one starts essentially right off from the previous, however you learn a few more details which I am so glad for because I was fuming at Travis at the end of This is War! Travis and Viola's connection is amazing in so many ways. They have great chemistry and passion but they also have this wit and sarcasm that makes you laugh and swoon at the same time. All I can really say is Mia needs to drop off the face of the planet. I disliked her harshly for some reason in the first book and in this one, I now know why. Drew so deserves better! He is the epic big brother in every way and the way that Courtney tries to get his attention makes me giggle and feel for her because of her unrequited love for him!
Overall, this series is one of my top ones ever. I really loved the audible edition as the narrator is perfect for it. She has the perfect voice for this and doesn't sound crazy doing a male voice. I would highly recommend it!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this series!!!

Even though it was Dual POV and the female narrator read both parts, I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Loved these characters!
What a Treat!

These two characters are steamy perfection. The banter and storyline of this couples love story.
Add in a character that you love to hate and there is no stopping the page turning.
I am volunteering to leave a review and recommendation for this duet.

Travis was sooooo much better in my opinion in this second book. He wasn't a d*ck, so yay haha. I think I liked this story line better because there was more romance. The last one had a big focus on the sexual tension and the characters' past, and this one focused more on the possibilities for the future.
Once again, I liked Viola's character. And of course Drew and Courtney. Super excited for the next duet focusing on those two. Especially after how this book ended. I was going to take a break from listening to these, but I might have to start the next one in the near future.
I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say like the last quarter of the book was super adorable. And I really liked the beginning half a lot too. The middle part was a little boring compared to the rest, but it was still a great listen overall. I enjoyed the narrator's renditions of the characters, and I'll have to see what else she narrates.
Super Adorable
