This book is a mess. It is poorly written and poorly narrated.

The book is full of short, simple sentences. Worked for Hemingway. Doesn't work here.

Near the middle of the book, the big reveal is not a surprise at all since by that time you've been tripping over clue after clue since the beginning of the book.

The author seems to have no idea of proper police procedures, such as chain of custody. In addition suspects are apparently tortured to elicit confessions as if this is a normal practice. And when a house burns down, the police get involved to get it restored again by helping the homeowner to obtain a grant. I've never heard of something like that, and meanwhile why isn't homeowner's insurance (or lack of) even mentioned?

Later the arsonists come over and apologize to the homeowner, saying they were really sorry and could they help with the restoration. Huh?? Shouldn't these people be behind bars?

There are a number of minor plot errors which I won't go into, in case I haven't scared everyone away yet and some of you may still decide to waste your time on this drivel.

The narrator can do perhaps two voices. An adult female woman is not one of them. That's unfortunate, since the main character in this book is a female.

When the aforementioned short sentences are read by the narrator, the book sounds like wishy-washy children's book.

Stay away from this author -- and this narrator.
