Publisher's summary

An absolutely charming and uplifting Christmas love story of hope, forgiveness and the true meaning of Christmas. From the best-selling author of Starting Over at Acorn Cottage.

No one loves Christmas more than editorial assistant Eve Pilkins.

But when her boss hits her with a huge deadline on Christmas Day, it looks like Eve's favourite time of the year might be cancelled. Armed with as much enthusiasm as she can muster, she travels to the coldest part of England, tasked with ensuring brooding author Edward Priest finishes his latest novel on time.

The festive spirit at Cranberry Cross is as dark as the house itself; without a fairy light in sight, it looks like only a Christmas miracle can save this one. Will Eve be up to the task?

Hints of Jane Eyre

I confess that I've read and loved everything that Kate Forster has written. I made myself wait until the Christmas season to read this and just finished. I feel like I just received a heart warming and favorite gift. There were a number of unnecessary repetitions of feelings concerning the boss, the job and the romantic interest, but I got over those irritations because of my love of all the characters....truly, I want to live with them !

Predictable but not to a fault

Very good narration and good characters. No surprises really but a nice, pleasant read. Good writing.l

Lovely story

Loved everything! The narrator was fantastic. Wish there was a sequel! I hate it to end and will listen a second time! An engaging story and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

development of kindness and more selflessness in the main character was nice

I disliked the swearing, and having intimacy and living together without the commitment of marriage.

I really enjoyed this story… but… please don’t let Charlotte Brontë see this book!

If you are a person who enjoys classical literature, you recognize the theme of this book very easily. We should have been given a descriptive title saying: a modern retelling of Jane Eyre.

With that being said, I didn’t know that. And I love Jane Eyre. I would’ve bought the book sooner!

A good story.

I like this Author. Her books are well thought out as are her characters. she is a good writer. I don't usually read romance...but at Christmas, its my thing. As far as this book. I recommend it whole heartedly. its part Christmas fantasy with a big dose of reality for families dealing with real life problems. I won't give up the plot. Just read and enjoy.

Wholesome witty writing

Overall an engaging storyline about writing and publishing. Has a woke gay couple crammed in, but the rest is a neat little novel.

Bought for favorite narrator - Found new favorite author!

Helen Keely is my favorite narrator and I purchased for that reason. Excitedly I found a lovely new author to follow. Loved the characters, crisp writing, pace and story. Brava!
