A Modern Fairytale

This cute story has a little bit of everything! A handsome cowboy, an adorable wiener dog, best friendships, and a happily ever after. Cindee Ellis has lived in Silver Creek all her life with her uncle and his wife Marge and daughter Priscilla. Cindee's step aunt and step cousin are just as evil as in the traditional fairy tale, and Cindee is overworked, underpaid, and kept under their thumb by constant demands. Cindee works as a mechanic in her uncle's garage and is a genius under the hood. One day her lifelong crush Henry Christensen arrives to get his truck detailed, and despite her grease splattered clothes and tongue tied shyness, he actually flirts with her.

I love a good makeover story, and I love a story where the girl is just as strong, independent, and knowledgeable as the love interest. This novella has both. The traditional gender role reversals are so well done. Even though the story is narrated by Cindee, it's easy to see why Henry likes her so much. She's strong, funny, and smart to boot. Her low self esteem caused by her living situation and family background is believable and it was great to tag along and watch her finally stand up for herself.

I really didn't want the story to end, I wanted to hear more about this adorable couple. Luckily there's a short story from Henry's point of view called Henry's Courage available online.

The narrator was perfect, her pace was spot on and her twang fit the story so well. A lot of Cindee's dialogue in the beginning of the story was in her head, and Angie Hickman did a good job differentiating between what was spoken aloud and what was not. This is my second story by the narrator and I can tell she's one to follow! I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Short and sweet

This story is too short and really needs to be longer. Cindee is so relatable to the tomboys of the world who have a friend who plays Barbie with us and finally get a guys attention you've always wanted. This is the story I've always wanted written and never gotten till now. I love it even if its short. Its more than worth it to give it a try and listen to. If only it was longer and there could of been more.

Sweet modern fairytale

This was a really cute story and not quite what I was expecting. I loved Angie's accent and how she kept it through the entire narration with changes for different characters. Her voice was just perfect for the shyly sweet Cindee. I loved the charm and ease of Henry and just the overall wonderful feelings this book produced. It's great hearing a Cinderella story that's so modernized and yet does great at keeping to the theme without coming across forced.

Short and sweet!

Adorable modern retelling of a classic story. Super cute take/twist on this fairy tale. I really enjoyed it. Narration by Angie Hickman was great. She was right on point down to her 'twang' she going. My only complaint was that I wish it was longer! But I guess that just means author Jamie Brook Thompson did her job well. Definitely recommend this quick, cute listen.

Brilliantly written

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this book exceeded my expectations. There is no rich prince, there are no unrealistic settings or situations. This is just a love story set in a regular town involving regular people. But I would rather live this kind of fairy tale than the normal kind.

This is such a sweet story, and the lead characters are so good together. I like that the story shows there’s no effortless happily ever after, and that a happy future and a strong relationship are things you need to work for every day.

The narration was perfect for the story, it had a perky feeling to it. The character voices were great, I was particularly impressed with the male voices.

This book was supplied free by the author/narrator/publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

sweet and clean

I enjoyed this twist on the fairytale story of Cinderella. This book by Jaime Brook Thompson was refreshing and somewhat original. The performance by Angie Hickman was fitting. I loved the awkward moments that were described in the story. I found this book to be very good and would listen to it again when in mood for sweet and clean. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Modern Cinderella

This was a great short story. It was a very unique modern Cinderella. The story drew me in and kept me interested all the way to the conclusion.

The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.

This is a great clean story with a very unique Cinderella. She is a mechanic and lives in a shed. Henry is a sweet guy that likes to bake. I enjoyed the fresh take on Cinderella. I'm looking forward to reading more books by Jamie Brook Thompson.

True to the Fairytale

First off I would listen to a phone book being read if it was Angie Hickman doing the reading. She brought these characters to life. Jamie Brook Thompson's modern take on this timeless tale was satisfying. I will look for more of her work.
