Publisher's summary

"Killing a man isn't an easy thing to live with, no matter the cause."

Erik Tarverro is a skilled blacksmith, a better swordsman—and hated for his mixed aeradi parentage. Denied mastery of his craft in the human city he grew up in, he accepts a risky contract from a dangerous stranger.

With new enemies at his heels, he leaps at the chance to join his father's people in the sky city of Newport. Despite his human blood, he finds his place among the aeradi: heir to an ancient noble family.

His duty leads him to sailing the skies and learning what it means to lead soldiers. But Erik's enemies will have blood, and the peace between his people and the Draconan dragon riders is like a powder keg. All it would take is one spark—and dragons will fly on his newfound city in the sky.

A great hero story

Some folks may be critical of this story but I loved it. A guy get a bunch of crap thrown at him by life, by dealing with what is in front of him and taking some advice from good people he steps up, puts the work in and triumps. That is the type of thing we should all do, everyday in every circumstance.

Enjoyable - wish there were more in the series

Overall, I really liked this book. The characters were interesting and compelling. There were some slow spots, but the overall experience was good and I'd like to see more of these characters. Unlike some other readers, I really didn't think the main character was too perfect. Things did always break his way, but it was well done and it worked for me. There are clearly paths to turn this into a series and I'd love to read more about these characters.

Loved this audio book!

One of Mr. Stewart's best! Loved every page, every twist. The narrator brought the story and characters to life. Flawlessly smooth, exciting, fun. Thank you!

A very entertaining book

This was my first book written by Flynn Stewart, and a first narrated by Gary Furlong. I was very entertained by both the storyline and its narration. I look forward to more collaboration between the two.

A Little Different

The Social Rankings were a bit difficult to follow but the story was quite entertaining. I enjoyed the use of dragons, the magic, and crystals. A little different but well done and enjoyable.

Really enjoyed it, wish there were more

Narration was excellent. Plot was simple but satisfying. Fantasy elements were interesting and the battles exciting.
This seems like the first or nearly the first book Glynn wrote but is in some ways better than those that have followed. 2nd edition might have helped, but there's lots more of this world to explore.

A Glynn Stewart clasic brought to life by Furlong

Although you can tell this is one of Glynn's earlier works, the story is still fantastic. The narration by Gary breaths life into these characters as no other could.
