This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
This novella is part of the Extreme Measures series and comes after Life Flight.

Flight Nurse Practitioner, Holly Cooper, has an enemy who wants her gone from the hospital one way or another. She and her fiancé, Detective Andy McKittrick are “taking a break”, and a patient has died under mysterious circumstances. Life is complicated at the moment so when she’s attacked, her friends—and “on hold” fiancé come to the rescue. Andy may have his issues, but he’s never stopped loving Holly. When he hears someone is out to get her, he races to her side. Can they find a killer before the killer succeeds in sending Holly six feet under?

I do not like the virtual narrating. It lacks expression and is confusing at times on character changes in speaking. All the character sound the same. Very dull. I feel like it takes away from the story.

I love Lynette Eason and would hate to quit listening to her books but I will if the AI narration continues. It was stilted and incorrect.

Narration Sucked

Virtual voice unpleasant and disappointing. In the past I have really enjoyed her audio books.

The performance not enjoyable

the narrator or reader read like a grade schooler putting emphasis in odd places, her performance was just off.

story is good but performance lacking

The story was excellent, and well written. But the virtual voice was awful. Robotic speaking, and no gaps where they were expected, such as between character/chapter changes.

Clean drama

obvious virtual narrator. None of the human emotion that comes with a human narrator. It's difficult to really get into the story.

The virtual voice was not pleasant to hear. Inflections were off, voices didn’t always match characters

Great story, narrator almost ruined it

Virtual voice was horrible. It actually read”me” instead of M.E. Don’t ever do that again. I think the story was good but I couldn’t really decide since it was so hard to get into it. Absolutely no way to make a connection with the characters.

Terrible Narration!

I was looking forward to listening to this book, as I loved the others in the series. Unfortunately, the use of AI to read the book destroyed the experience for me. One would think that the use of technology would allow for different tones or voices when changing between characters and the narrator. It did not. While the story line was decent, the voice was distracting removing the pleasure from the experience. I do hope that this will be record with a human reading it. One who is able to bring inflection into the story, understand punctuation, and has life.

Lack of Personality

the digital voice performance wasn't as good as the human readers but the story was good

human readers better
