Publisher's summary

Best friends snowed in together. When the heat rises, will they get cold feet?

Getting snowed in at a remote cottage in Wales with someone he'd fancied for ages isn't exactly how Sam expected to spend Christmas. His feelings for Ryan are pointless. Ryan's straight - or so he thought.

Until now, Ryan's kept his feelings for Sam buried. Why ruin a friendship over what might only be gay experimentation? Playing it cool seems safer, until a cold snap makes sharing body heat vital. In their Welsh safe haven, anything seems possible.

As Ryan's reserve melts away, Sam wants more than stolen kisses under the mistletoe. But a sudden thaw means making decisions. They could face the New Year together - unless one of them gets cold feet.

Really great and easy story

I really liked this story - if anything it was a bit to short :P u don't really get a strong grip on the characters (although sufficiently to keep u satisfied), but the story is really nice and makes you feel good and glad for the two boys. I can definitely recommend this book to everyone that look for an easy read (I listened to it all in one day) and aren't afraid to get a bit nasty sometime ;)

Nice Short Story

Where does Cold Feet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I think this is one of the better stories I've listened to. The short length means the story focuses on the two main characters.

Have you listened to any of Matthew Lloyd Davies’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to a few of MLD's narrations. Always a top notch performance.

Forced Proximity Over the Holidays

Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes so Cold Feet was the perfect audiobook for me. I love all of Jay Northcote's books and Cold Feet was one of my earlier books by him. I do adore a good friends to lovers romantic story and Cold Feet delivered perfectly!

This was my first time listening to Matthew Lloyd Davies but he had a pleasant voice as Ryan and Sam. This was a well-paced audiobook with dual POVs from Ryan and Sam who are best friends and house mates in uni. Sam is gay while Ryan is straight and both men are supposed to on holiday in a small winter village while waiting for their friends to arrive. Due to a snowstorm, their friends can't make it so that leaves Ryan and Sam on their own. Snowed in while staying at their friend's remote cabin gives them the opportunity to fall in love.

Once their holiday is over, Ryan and Sam return to reality and have to figure out if they should pursue a romantic relationship. Both men quickly figure out what they want and it was a HEA for both of them :) Lovely, short audiobook that I enjoyed listening to over and over again!

Sweet engaging seasonal tale

Any additional comments?

I love Jay's books and have read most of them, but this is the first one I have heard on audio.

This is a sweet engaging friends to lovers tale. Ryan and Sam are student housemates who plan to spend a few days with friends in a cottage in rural Wales, but get snowed in before their friends can arrive! Stuck over Christmas Day, they make friends with Mari after rescuing her cat. Their attraction to each other ends in kisses and questions and thankfully ends in fireworks on New Years Eve - in a good way!!

The narrator, Matthew Lloyd, was English and his tone was charming. But, I did have a couple of niggles: I didn't like how he portrayed Ryan, he sounded simpleminded, which he plainly wasn't!! I also felt his Welsh accent needed some work, it sounded like he threw in a little Irish and Scottish lilt too, making it a rounded Celtic twang!

Overall, it was an enjoyable story, warm and fluffy and ideal for a cwtch up on the sofa.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author for an honest review.

a sweet holiday story

Cold Feet is a sweet, holiday, friends to lovers short story set in the UK about Sam and Ryan. Sam is openly gay and his best friend Ryan is straight, or that's what he appears to be to the outside world. When Sam and Ryan get snowed in together for Christmas their true feels for each other come to light. Ryan admits he's gay and Sam admits he's had more than friendly feelings for his best friend. This is a really sweet story as these two friends become more.
Narrator Matthew Lloyd Davies does a fabulous job.

Christmas treat

Cute little Christmas story that’s fairly predictable but enjoyable nonetheless. Low on angst, high on sweetness. I love how polite the MCs are and how considerate they are of others. The world needs more boys like these. My only complaint is that I’m not a fan of narrators who sound so much older than the MCs.

I always enjoy a good friends to lovers romance. The connection is always easier when the couple has a relationship already. Ryan & Sam are sweet and young. Ryan is a little unsure about his sexuality but he knows that he is attracted to his best friend. Sam is also attracted to his best friend but since he thinks Ryan is straight, he struggles with it. Getting snowed in at a remote cabin in the woods gives them a chance to fall in love. This book was sweet and feels almost innocent, maybe because they are NA. I always enjoy books by Jay Northcote, the stories always make me smile when I finish.

The narration was good and I always enjoy his work.

Nice

Nice book and nice story, really short though, the storyline had some potencial but I like it overall. The only thing I did not like was the English accent, I found it hard to understand some times but I was a fun and lovely read sadlly it was too short.

Cute Christmas Story

I really liked this story. The friends to lovers is a trope that I really like, and these 2 guys were very likable. This story is a case of don't assume things about a mate, they could surprise you . This was well written story. I just had trouble with the narration. I sometimes got lost on who was supposed to be talking. Some will say that it was a predictable story, well if the book is in the Romance section and they get snowed in what would you expect.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

it was enjoyable but I didn't have any extreme reactions
