Publisher's summary

Hollywood has made a star of Todd Pickett. But time is catching up with him. After plastic surgery goes awry, Todd needs somewhere to hide away for a few months while his scars heal.

As Todd settles into a mansion in Coldheart Canyon - a corner of the city so secret it doesn't even appear on a map - Tammy Lauper, the president of his fan club, comes to the City of Angels determined to solve the mystery of Todd's disappearance. The closer Tammy gets to Todd the more of Coldheart Canyon's secrets she uncovers: The ghosts of A-list stars; Katya Lupi, the cold-hearted, now-forgotten star for whom the Canyon was named, alive and exquisite after a hundred years; and, finally, the door in the bowels of Katya's dream-palace that reputedly opens up to another world, the Devil's Country, where no one has returned without their souls shadowed by what they've seen and done.

Mingling an insiders' view of modern Hollywood with a wild streak of visionary fantasy, Coldheart Canyon is an audiobook without parallel. An irresistible and unmerciful picture of Hollywood and its demons, told with all the style and raw narrative power that has made Clive Barker's books and films a phenomenon worldwide.

Not even Franck Mueller can save this one

Took a chance on this book because it was read by The Great Franck Mueller the premise even sounded interesting kind of a Hollywood version of fountain of youth but it quickly went sideways and off the rails dissolving into a free-for-all of the unbelievable and unimaginable. The books heroin the president of a fan club is one of the few survivors and really one of the few believable characters. Hard to believe that Mueller was awarded an Audie award for this book. His characterization was fine he did his usual Yoemans work on it and that must’ve been what the Academy had in mind otherwise I don’t think I would waste my time. Joe Lilley

This is Hollywood

This was a good ideal keeps you guessing what's going to happen when it gets going. At the beginning when it gives the backstory to the devil's country is good but after that it slows down a good bit. Then there's the ending that drag on. I I want to say there was three or five different times the book could end but more was add. There is stuff in the story that some people would find bad I even question myself.

A good read. Missing Frank Muller's voice.

This isn't a Book of Blood, as much as I wish there were such a book as long as this one. I love a good ghost story and this is a good one. I've never had a book read to me by Mr Muller that I didn't like. I enjoy his reading style. He has a way of using his voice to recreate a character the way you'd think they really spoke. Steven King liked him enough to read his entire Dark Tower series for Audible, but tragedy took him before he could finish the last few. Clive Barker is known for his violence, but this one is calmer. Come here for an evolving ghost story.

Coldheart Canyon fan review

Great story overall from Barker as usual. Clive's imagination and ability to write words that flow so well together is a real gift. Having Frank Muller voicing this freakish hollywood tale is a bonus. After listening to his readings of the first 4 dark tower books, there is just no one better for the job. Frank is missed by many in the audible community, no doubt.

loved it & love Frank Muller (RIP)

Great story & full of suspense. Just scary enough. So sad for the loss of Frank Muller. I want him to read every story.

Great story

At first I was unsure what was happening and where the story was going but was very surprised and happy.

Not what I was looking for

I was expecting more fantasy and less erotica. Frank Muller's narration is stellar, as usual, but the story is disconnected at times, downright boring often, and the fantasy seems to be focussed on sexual exploits more than anything else. Meh.

Not my favorite Clive Barker novel

Starts slow but eventually picks up momentum. The narration is good. I listened to this one right after Weaveworld, so it was disappointing.

Great old Hollywood story.

Like "Sunset Blvd" on crack, but in a good way. Solid narration and a nice length for a road trip or some time alone.

coldheart canyon

clive barker can tell a story in the best way. taking you step by step slowly down the path until you question if what he tells is real. the narrator frank muller gives each voice a uniqueness and brings each person or other to life.
