Undecided about Blake 🤔

First off I did enjoy most of this book. It's high on the drama and some of the characters are not very likable. Fortunately Adriana the heroine of this story is a admirable character with tons of strength. After loosing so many people in her family from various deaths.. It's a wonder this woman didn't fall apart. Her evil witch of a sister Alexis wasn't a tragic loss for me.
But dealing with all this tragedy on her own was a hard to listen to.

I'm on the fence with Blake he fakes his own death stays gone for 4 year's all while constantly professing his love for Adriana. I feel like I need a pair of boots to navigate my way through all of Blake's far fetched BS. I mean I get why he left, but come on.. if he loved Adriana so much, why didn't he come back when she really needed him? I feel like he had opportunitie's that he just didn't take. And then I have to address the way he came back in her life well, that was a bit of a unrealistic 💊 to swallow. The chances of a situation in real life happening this way is probably about the same chance you have of winning the lottery lol. For a while the only good thing Blake had in his favor was the fact that he was celibate while he was away.

Though it was hard for me to warm up to Blake, I will say that what his character lacked in compassion for his wife he more than made up for between the sheets lol. To be so melancholy and dramatic this book did have some pretty steamy scenes in it (I'm certainly not complaining about that). Blake's uber hot bedroom antics definitely earned him a few brownie points with me. Yeah.. my ears were seduced by the sex and it made me want to foget what I didn't like about his character.

The narration was great! Lacy And Logan did a very good job acting out the characters with plenty of emotion and feeling. Lacy has a soft pleasant voice while Logan's is deep and sexy they complement each other perfectly.
This is my first Kathy Coopmans book though, I didn't care for all the characters.. I do like her writing style and will definitely be buying more of her book's in the future. I own a ton of book's and somehow this talented author had escaped my attention. I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review. I wish we would have got more out of the epilogue, but I still think it was worth the time spent listening.

Good narration. Confusing and unbelievable story

I enjoyed Lacy Laurel’s narration of Come Back to Me. Her depiction of Adriana, the heroine, as a woman drowning in her grief is spot on. Logan McAllister’s voice was wonderful to listen to.

However good the narration may be, the story itself is lacking. And I think the narration highlights areas where the book could have been improved upon.

The biggest challenge I had in believing this story was that the reasons for separating Blake and Adriana become somewhat of a non-issue once they are reunited. Poor explanations, unbelievable reasons and a lack of worry about retribution take a back seat. Worse, if it wasn’t for a chance meeting, Blake had no intention of seeking out Adriana, so his attitude of ‘we will be together because I say so’ rings false.

Adding to this is the confusion of both Blake’s and Adriana’s recollections of past conversations while in the present. Several times I had to rewind the audio because I thought I had missed something. That wasn’t the case. Sure, the background information was important in trying to understand people’s actions but it was introduced at the wrong time.

Good Second Chance Story!

This is a good second chance romance about two people, Blake and Adriana who's lives were ruin by others. Adriana was a strong character considering the fact that she has lost so much in her life including her sister, grandma and so she thinks her husband. I am glad that Blake and Adriana was able to get though their issues and we do get a HEA at the end.

A second chance is all it takes

The narrators are so stinking good on this they deserve top billing here.

This book is a good mix of rip you heart out, mace your face, kick you in the feels heartbreak and white hot passion. Adriana and Blake could melt the pants right off you.

Adriana is stronger than anyone should have too be. The meet cute between the characters is a fantasy I want to be a part of. But did I mention the tears?! Don’t listen while driving. You need wipers for you eyes. And Blake, oh Blake you were so very close to perfect.

I would recommend this for fans or second chance romance

It's like you’re living the book

I read this book previously and loved it! However, listening to an Audio Book is so different than reading a book. Depending on the narrators, you feel as if you’re experiencing a book. The narrators for Come Back to Me were Lacy Laurel and Logan McAllister had fantastic chemistry! Lacy has this super sexy voice… it’s low and bit husky… she sounds like she was woken up in a super sexy way and is extremely happy about it (not me, I’m not a morning person!). Now I’m a woman and Logan’s voice was like having sexy hands run over my body… shhhh… I’m married Logan, you naughty naughty boy! I could listen to these two read to me all day long!

I wanted to wrap poor Adrianna up in this protected cloth for the rest of her life. No one should have to experience so much loss. It’s inspiring to watch her continue on her life and completely uproot it for the change she so desperately needed. I don’t want to give a lot of the story line away… there’s so much mystery and the story unfolds perfectly in front of you. Blake was so in love and it’s beautiful to see a man so head over heels for his woman. There might have been a few times I wanted to knock some sense into him but, eh, he is a man so that seems pretty normal! I love the flashbacks we get throughout the book. Both Blake and Adrianna take us back and forth from now to their past, this really helps build a picture in our heads.

My only problem with this whole story is the cussing. It really wasn’t necessary to cuss as much as it did. It didn’t add anything to the story and honestly, it took a bit away for me. There are times when a good curse word is needed and adds to the story but this seemed extreme to me. That being my only beef and doesn’t even warrant me removing an entire star off my rating.

Kathy Coopmans tells a wonderful story of strength and forgiveness. We get an up-close look at how life can be so cruel to some people while not challenging others. We see how two people handle the same situations differently. There’s just so much here… I’d definitely recommend this story. Coopmans can weave a story that will touch your heart.

Blake and Adriana

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes I would but I would also recommend that you listen to the audio sample first.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No they did not.

Any additional comments?

I had a hard time with this audio. The women narrator was very nasally and I just had a hard time listening to her. I am sorry. I hate to say that but it took me weeks to finish this book because of it.

New storyline

This was definitely a storyline I hadn’t heard before. It was well written and the characters were developed nicely. Half way through I did find it surprising that the story hadn’t progressed further and to be honest I frequently questioned the timeline. There is a lot of going back and forth between the past and the present. I’m sure when reading the book yourself this comes across as clear however in an audiobook format it threw me off at times. Solid performance from the narrators, I always love when it’s a male female duo.

I requested this book as a gift and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Good story....but

3.5 stars
I'm torn on this book. On one hand it's a very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable story. On the other hand there are parts of it that drove me crazy. Although it's a good story I struggled with this book in the beginning. I actually stopped the book about 15 min in and came back to it another day. The second time was much better but the story really didn't grab hold of me until Logan McAllister joined into the narration. From then on I was hooked, and was irritated anytime I had to pause the book for any reason.

A second chance at love. How far would you go to protect someone you love? That is the choice Blake had to make. In the process he destroyed 2 lives.

For me the story dragged a few times. It unfolded much slower than it should have with the constant internal thoughts and dialog and of the characters. It also effected the flow of the story for me. I just wanted them to get it together already. At the same time I really enjoyed that it is told through dual POV's so you understand what each of them is feeling or thinking.

Although she grows on you Adriana's character just didn't come across as likable in the beginning and her character just didn't pull me into the story. She came across as insecure and too much in her head for me. She was constantly going over the same things in her head over and over. While I understand her reservations and feelings it gets annoying after a while. Blake's character was also a little too much in his head but it was more interesting/tolerable. He had different/more interesting reasons for his inner turmoil.

I do really like the fact that no matter the circumstances Blake stayed true to his wife. Even when he thought he would never be able to be with her again he didn't move on and forget about her. He loved his wife down to his soul. Everything he did was to protect her.

Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel did a great job with the narration. Once Logan McAllister joined in they balanced each other out. The deep, rough gravelly of Blake's character with the soft, insecure and fragile of Adriana's. Really good character voices. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. They were able to bring the characters, their emotions and the story to life. Very enjoyable.

The story in this audiobook shows the strength you have even when you think you have nothing left to live for. I loved this book and it's hard to pause and put it down.
