About this listen

In the wake of the collapse of the European Union, sparked by the chaos of Brexit, a new alliance is forged between Germany and France. Their vision - create a superpower on the European continent capable of eclipsing the United States, China, or any nation on Earth. Iran exploits the chaos and devises a plan to settle old scores with a diabolically clever and horrifying twist on cyber warfare. Miscalculations, mistrust, misunderstandings, and mistakes push the world to the brink of annihilation as events quickly spin out of control.

Joseph Michael Barber, CEO of his own security firm, Orion Bellicus (“fierce hunter”), is drawn into the swirl of events as he investigates the assassination of an important client, the Chief Executive of a prominent German defense contractor. What he uncovers is astonishing and beyond his worst fears, and the knowledge makes him an assassination target himself. Barber and his partner, Marcus Day, are drawn deeper and deeper into a web of treason and deceit as they scramble to reveal the truth in an effort to pull the world back from the brink of catastrophe, and it’s a race against time.

From the halls of power in Washington D.C. to Silicon Valley, California, from Berlin to Iran, and from China to the desolate northern shores of the Shetland Islands to the mountains of Argentina, Command and Control delivers a horrifying tale of cyber warfare, once again ripped from today’s headlines.

A Story That Is Terrifyingly Possible Today

A great story about what can go wrong in the age of nuclear weapons and the internet. The story paints a realistic outline of what can happen when the bad guys use the internet to hack into a nations command and control system.

A great political thriller in the vein of Clancy

if you like Tom Clancy then this book should be right up your alley. it is well written with a tremendous amount of detail and believable characters woven into real life political structures. While some of the villains were gratuitously evil and seemingly without any moral compunction whatsoever, you find yourself rooting for the good guys and hoping the bad guys fail. The narrator did a fantastic job with all of the various accents. It did not detract from the story or distract in any way. Bravo! I highly recommend!
