Publisher's summary

It was called Jade Dragon…and it threatened to destroy the West.

Was an attack on the US imminent?

In a lab deep in the heart of China, a brilliant engineer had a breakthrough. It was the most powerful AI ever created. Ma Young believed the Jade Dragon could combat the world’s most dire challenges. There was just one problem...the president of China had other ideas. Was this their chance to conquer?

The war began at the speed of light. The entire NATO alliance stood on the brink of destruction. Cyber attacks, deepfakes, and a wave of social media disinformation wrought fear and desperation across the globe. The sleeping giant was awake. Could Ma stop his creation?

Great read!

Maybe a little techno geeky, but hits all the buttons of how the next war will be fought. The Covid 24 piece was like the last James Bond movie.

well written

I very enjoyable what if story. obviously there are some flaws in the logic of the story but I don't think it subtracts from the overall book. my only issue is it seems to spend more time on some aspects of the story and just glosses over other plot points that makes some parts seemed rushed.

It's a good book, but

all the naval and aerial battle scenes are difficult to follow with an audiobook. Also, a little too detailed with the weapons and equipment descriptions. Otherwise the China-related plot is very relevant these days and presented accurately

Riveting

I enjoy reading military and espionage books, but all the characters in most of the books I read are described as beautiful, handsome, blonde haired, blue eyed people. I like that this book has men and women performing feats of heroism, and they just provide the names of the characters. I couldn’t put the book down, because the scenarios in the book are believable and horrifying. I already purchased the next book.

Excellent book with great plot - loved it

Not only was it a great story but it actually made me realize many things about the recent years with COVID and things the Chinese have been doing.

I'm on to Volume II to see if the USA (and the world) can fix this mess.

Extremely good!

I enjoyed this as much as Red Storm Rising the book of this type by which I measure all others. Very engaging and realistic

Superb and Scary as F#%k

I bought this book based solely on its description, and because several reviews by former members of the US armed forces stated that the martial based info was accurate and realistic, which is fundamental to a first-rate military fiction novel. Also, I enjoy Marc Vietor’s narration.
Both the writing and plot are outstanding. The author’s interpolation of a purpose for and a devastating reaction to present day geopolitical tensions is genuinely scary, because it’s entirely plausible.
My only gripe is with Vietor’s narration. He gives Asian characters an aristocratic British accent, which is confusing and displeasing. He also mispronounces Beijing, China (it’s BeiJing, not BeiSHing). Even so, he does have a pleasant voice and reads well.
Highly recommended.

Great Modern China War

Awesome narration and story. Very good characters and development. Spot on tactics and strategy. Book 2 is in my next selection.
