Publisher's summary

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis, former shot caller for the Southside Compton Crips and kingpin of a Compton-based drug operation, rose to national prominence as one of the only living witnesses to the 1996 slaying of rapper Tupac Shakur after being featured in several TV specials on A&E (2017), USA Network (2017), Fox (2017), and BET (2018).

More than 20 years after the killings of Tupac and Biggie, Keffe D has released his gritty memoir, Compton Street Legend: Notorious Keffe D’s Street-Level Accounts of Tupac and Biggie Murders, Death Row Origins, Suge Knight, Puffy Combs, and Crooked Cops. Unlike other accounts of the murders of global rap icons Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. by private investigators, retired police officers, informants, or academics, Compton Street Legend is an authentic narrative from a major street player who was inextricably involved.

Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis’ memoir underscores the universal corruption of crime and punishment in the United States in an environment where plea deals, grand jury indictments, and cooperation with the FBI has become commonplace. Compton Street Legend is the story of the explosive consequences when the powerful worlds of the streets, entertainment, and corrupt law enforcement collide.

Excellent Read

I liked most everything about the book and it gives first hand accounts from a man who was there on the scene and I believe every word he said in that book

It was okay

This was an interesting read for sure. I think the narrator did a good job. The story was good in the sense I felt invested enough to keep listening.

Great book; one of the best!

He knows the ins and outs of a lot of thing us as fans of the Culture question daily. Deep, deep, deep dive into the life some of us want to live out and partake in but know how detrimental and messed up it can be to us and our families. I love how real this book is. It takes you in many many wild rides down the life of a drug dealer, gangster, and all of that.

Should have been entitled, "You Big Dummy!"

It infuriated me to listen to another glorified tale of street predator until I realized this idiot has just set himself up for a lifetime bid. Good for him. Can't wait to watch the upcoming trial that will put him and probably a few other criminals away with him. With all of the gangsters he ticked off, he'll have a less-than-enchanted time in prison.

gripping!!

i enjoyed this audiobook!! usually, real time street stories sound like they can almost take you there visually. the way the narrator perforns this story, it feels like you're riding shotgun with Keffe D through every situation!! Again, i enjoyed it.

That hate in his heart for 2Pac & Suge quite prevalent …. It’s been 25 years going on 26 & Keefe Dee is still on platforms like “The art of dialogue “ looking mad like this shit happened yesterday!!! Keefe u marked out!! Decent Lil Book though…
