About this listen

Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography is an intimate look at the day-to-day dealings of a drug kingpin in the heart of the ghetto. It's also the story of a boy born in poverty in Texas who grew up in a single-parent household in the heart of South Central, who was pushed through the school system each year and came out illiterate. His options were few, and he turned to drug dealing. This untold autobiography is not only personal, but also historical in its implications. Rick Ross chronicles the times by highlighting the social climate that made crack cocaine so desirable, and he points out that at the time, the "cops in the area didn't know what crack was; they didn't associate the small white rocks they saw on homies as illegal drugs". All Rick Ross knew was people wanted it.

The big point I took from this reading is...
Ricky made millions not being able to read, but reading saved his life.

Great auto I would have liked a couple more hrs but I feel like the Boss stayed to gangster and didn't give the gruesome details and business structures it took to be the best. Stayed to PG-13
Read by the whitest old guy ever!!! I didn't expect Denzel or wiz to be narrating, but such a fascinating life story needs a voice that has some pain and appreciation... this guy sounded like he's never had anything close to the excitement that comes with bags of cash
I needed that
Still B+....A- couldn't stop listening

Rick Ross the Bo$$

listening to a white narrator say the word nigga/er to a black man like myself was funny. Next time get someone who knows how to talk "ebonics" fluently 😂 I'm available 😂😂

Slang talk was funny

Rick Ross' memoir is one worth listening to as it is rich with pithy insights, sheer grace at every turn and wisdom words. His memoir takes us deep into the drug scene of the 90s, told from the perspective of a big hearted dealer looking for redemption, and holds us captive from beginning till the end. Highly Recommended

This is a great look into the government corruption and how they continuously find scapegoats to hide their hands of any wrong doing they are truly complicit

what a impeccable masterpiece

Narrator was of the wrong ethnic background to narrate with passion. Missing essence in the delivery of the narration.

No passion in the narration!

The narrator was terrible. Why would someone authorize a caucasian to narrate a Black Man's story? His pronunciations of the word Nigger, instead of Nigga was very frustrating to listen too. There is a major difference in the meaning of announciations ending in ER as opposed to A. A Black Man would have narrated this book alot better based on this difference.

Good Story...But

I work in an office setting and this book kept me on the edge of my seat! Much respect for Rick, I sure hated that he didn’t stop the first time that the escaped conviction. But he still won in the end!

So Glad I Purchased This Audible!!!

The book is great and is “read well”. Yet the choice in narrator though makes the story a little less enjoyable.

Great book needs a different narrator!
