Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Concerning Lucifer
An interesting story concerning good vs evil and being caught in the middle. The book does end on a major cliffhanger which sets things up for another book.
Another fantastic performance by Meghan Kelly. I am never disappointed with Meghan’s narration. She has a way of pulling me right in to the story.

Pretty Cool Story
I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
The premise of this story is that it is set in a world where some people openly worship Lucifer. There are known places of worship, though there is still some level of anonymity some maintain. The protagonist (not sure how to spell her name) lives in a home where here mother, brother, and stepfather worship Lucifer, or are Lucifarians. She continues to worship God, along with her best friend, but begins to feel tempted to change her allegiance.
The story is mostly entertaining, though I can’t say I ever felt fully engaged or captivated. I am not sure that is the author’s fault or my own, so I give it 4 stars rather than 3. Again, the premise is pretty cool. My only genuine complaint is that the story ends with an obvious need for a sequel. That wasn’t clear from the title nor the description. I was a little disappointed upon learning the truth. However, I may feel compelled to pick up the next book.
Meghan Kelly’s narration is very good. She does a solid job of storytelling. My only negative comment is that at times, particularly in the beginning, she sounds a little like she is reading (not telling) and her voice sometimes has a noticeable quavering to it. When that happens she sounds somewhat old, and the protagonist is a teen. These issues are only occasionally noticeable, but did impact the listening experience for me. Again, for the most part her performance was strong.

Great Book
Concerning Lucifer was a good quick read by Curtis Houck. Querida was always a devout Christian and a self-professed computer nerd. Everything suddenly changes when she moves in with her satanic following step father. She joins forces with her step father when she suffers inner conflict about her faith and values. They are now trying to free Lucifer from hell. I thought that this was a pretty good quick read.

Test of Faith
Concerning Lucifer: A Young Adult Urban Fantasy Series written by Curtis Houck tells the story of Querida. The story is set in a world where The worship of Satan appears to be mainstream and equally accepted as Christianity. Querida who now lives with her mother who has remarried a satanic worshiper. She and her brother now live with her mother and new stepfather. The Mother and brother have both converted to Satanism and have seemingly only had good things happen for them afterward. They push their new world view on her daily. She struggles with her faith. All she ever wanted from God was a tangible sign from him that she was being heard. This is the core of the story.
The story does hold the listener's attention with Querida’s struggle with her faith in God. Her absentee Father and his reasons for being gone that have never been explained. Querida had a best friend who is questionable in her motivations, during their friendship. This all lends drama that makes the story interesting during the short running time. This short story does end on a cliff hanger which is annoying. There was nothing showing another story coming soon.
The narration is provided by Meghan Kelly. Ms. Kelly brought a strong skilled vocal quality to this audio production. The production quality of this audiobook is also the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Curtis Houck delivered an excellent audiobook production. This is an interesting audiobook I would recommend it if you are a fan of the genre but would wait to pick it up when the sequel is out. Bizarre but rather entertaining.......
Concerning Lucifer was an extremely bizarre yet rather entertaining short story. My biggest complaint was the lack of any world building, background or history. The story just started in this strange existence in which the world is controlled by two separate but equally powerful groups: The Satanists and The Christians. Querida is a young woman caught between these two factions in that her father is a soldier for the holy war and her stepfather, mother and brother are devote worshipers of Lucifer. Throw in a best friend whose motives are questionable at best, and the usual angst and struggle of becoming an adult, and Querida is a girl with a lot on her plate. I tried to put aside my confusion from minimal introduction of this strange world and just focus on the actual battle between The Christians and The Satanists as well as Querida's inner battle over her place in this war. I found this made the story more enjoyable. The book ends on a major cliff-hanger and definitely sets the stage for many further adventures for Querida in the near future.
Meghan Kelly's narration is as amazing as always. She is a truly talented narrator, and I would enjoy listening to her read anything. Her delivery is flawless, she differentiates extremely well between male and female characters, and she handled Querida's lonely and searching personality especially skillfully.

Interesting
This was my first Curtis Houck's book. This is the first book in the Series. This short story is original, complex/strange, and interesting. The story ends with a cliffhanger. Meghan Kelly did a great job with the narration. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
