About this listen

Winner, 2024 Good Housekeeping Kids’ Book Award

If you’ve ever wondered why Squibs are never offered a place at Hogwarts, what happened when Vernon Dursley first met James Potter, or how Dumbledore and McGonagall formed their lifelong friendship, From the Wizarding Archive should go straight to the top of your wish list. Containing 80 articles written by J.K. Rowling for the original Pottermore website and available for the first time in audio, exclusively from Audible, Harry Potter fans everywhere are in for a treat.

If there’s one thing Harry Potter fans have in common (apart from impeccably good taste), it’s questions… so many questions. From the simple details that perplex us all – was Professor Umbridge always that awful? Why don’t wizards just use phones? – to the personal details that bring us closer to J.K. Rowling’s writing process – from her least favourite school subject and its impact on Professor Snape’s career, to the personal significance of King’s Cross and why it’s always where the Hogwarts Express departs – this is a veritable treasure trove of answers.

Narrated by Evanna Lynch, Hugh Quarshie, Finlay Robertson and Lara Sawalha, and with an exclusive foreword by Evanna Lynch, this spellbinding audiobook is essential listening for any Harry Potter aficionado.

The articles in From the Wizarding Archive were originally written by J.K. Rowling for pottermore.com and remain free to read in English on wizardingworld.com. 35 of the 80 articles were originally published across three Pottermore Presents eBooks. This is the first time any of the content has been available in audio format.

Theme music composed by Sara Carvalho.

Great Info... but way to many extra noises!

The four narrators did a fine job with this piece. I understand, this being from the World of Harry Potter, that there must be a large library of sounds to pull from to make things atmospheric. Please TURN THEM DOWN. I listen to audio books on my commute and I would have my car stereo all the way up and still have trouble understanding thr narrator at time! This is no fault of the narrators, because they all were easily understood otherwise!

Great content! Obnoxious sound effects.

I really enjoyed the content of this book. As a HP fan, the additional context for characters and locations really added to the broader story. However, the various sound effects and often inappropriate times was distracting and annoying. Quite a few times, I couldn’t hear the narrator clearly due to some random sound that only vaguely fit with the current topic. PLEASE get rid of the sound effects! The Boole would be great without them!

At long last!

I loved this, at long, long last, so many unanswered questions about things in the Harry Potter books, have been answered, concerning back stories, characters and plot lines and a little more. if you are in fact a diehard HP fan, this book won't disappoint. I'll admit, I skipped over the chapter about wand making and I may go back and go over it eventually, but, it just didn't hold my interest like other things in the book, but, that of course was just me. Over all, it was spelltacular and the narrators top notch. I loved especially listening to Evanna Lynch read she also read her own book and I enjoyed that as well. I personally think, she should consider audio book narration as a job lol. and the other readers, were fantastic as well. For once in a long while, I feel like I did not waste my money on a book. I have thrown away about 8 credits on books that turned out to be duds lately and I wish so much I had those credits back and those books, removed from my library.

wish it was a bit longer, but still good

Not as much new information and in between the scenes snippets as I had hoped but very enjoyable and really loved that it was read in part by Luna. She has a voice full of joy and wonder. maybe we will get more later?

Magical insights into the Harry Potter universe

Hey everyone, thanks for reading this! Unlike most of you, I stumbled upon the Harry Potter audiobooks about five years ago and have been hooked ever since. I love both the US and British versions, so when I heard about this audiobook, I couldn’t resist pre-ordering it.

From the Wizarding Archive is a magical treasure trove of info about Harry Potter, with 80 articles written by J.K. Rowling for the original Pottermore website. As a huge fan who’s almost 42, Harry Potter is still my all-time favorite series. Spending eight hours immersed in this incredible world, created by J.K. Rowling, was an absolute blast.

Harry Potter fans everywhere should totally grab this. The narration by Evanna Lynch, Hugh Quarshie, Finlay Robertson, and Lara Sawalha is top-notch. The soundscape is super immersive, with subtle sound effects and atmospheric music composed by Sara Carvalho. If you want to dive deeper into Harry’s world, learn more about his family, some of the teachers, and all the cool details that didn’t make it into the original books, you owe it to yourself to listen to this awesome audio production.

Entertaining

Excellent addition to the series, gives background on some secondary characters and insights into who they are, along with going behind the scenes at Hogwarts and the Wizarding community. Fabulous narration by Evanna Lynch and the entire cast.
