Totally mixed up!

Barbara Goss always has a release just when I need to refresh my ears. Every book is always a good story with a wonderful message and this one is no exception. Conner's Contrary Bride is the result of the matchmaker's mix up! When all the forms are mixed up the cat, the matchmaker's niece does her best to reorganize. When Conner and Elsie find themselves matched together, they are ready to take the plunge. But now they are finding out just how different they really are. Will they be able to figure out a way to be together? Will the matchmaker's mistake work out in the end? I love this town, the characters and the story! Elsie has a troubled past, Conner has an unbearable loss and together these two learn hope, faith, love and compromise can build the best relationships. I love the premise of this series, showing that things may not always be as they seem and life's unusual turns may be for the best! Love, love, love it!

J Scott Bennett brings it all to life. He is such a fantastic storyteller. He creates the perfect voice for each character and finds the nuances to make each one so realistic. I love his performances and always watch for his releases.

A great story

I enjoyed this story. The author did a great job of creating characters that were very likable. Connor & Elsie had secrets & obstacles to overcome. I also liked the narrator. Great job.

Perfect Match!

In this story we have an easy going, caring man, a Doctor by the name of Conner who lost his wife during childbirth and who now needs companionship.
And then we have Elsie who is very contrary in nature and who can also be quite fiery. She is running away from her step-father's amorous intentions.
Both apply to the Matchmaker and due to a mischievous cat are mismatched - or are they?
I was totally entertained by the goings on between Connor and his new bride.
There were so many issues and disagreements which they had to work out so that they could live together. I guess that is what happen if one marries quickly without knowing anything about one's spouse.
This story has many home truths woven into it. It is also well written, easy to read and it is my pleasure to recommend it.
J. Scott Bennett as narrator was perfect.
My review above is voluntary and unbiased written after listening to the audiobook.

I Love Lucy Goes West

I have long enjoyed the wonderful imagination of Barbara Goss as she increases the population of the West with brides and grooms. In this case, the Matchmaker's carefully chosen selections become cat fodder and the granddaughter's attempts to put the files back in order create chaos of their own. He lives in the middle of cattle country and she doesn't eat beef; he's a city doctor and she wants to live in the country; he's a Christian and she's a non-believer. Almost any subject which has two choices sees the two of them on the opposite side of the question. How on Earth did the Matchmaker put them together? But this tale does not consist primarily of domestic quarrels. We have an evil stepfather and a gang of bank robbers dropped into the mix to make things exciting. All the cross-purposes seemed like a first class "I Love Lucy" episode as I laughed my way through the entire story, listening to J. Scott Bennett enacting the various characters in the audio version.

Christian Historical Romance

I went back and forth between my ebook and my audiobook versions. I loved both, but I preferred the audiobook! The story Barb wrote was wonderful and full of surprises! And, I loved Scott's narration! His voice is definitely better than my head voice and had just the right sound for a Western! These two make the perfect book creating combination! I think I'm really going to enjoy this series!

Agree to disagree

What happens when the matchmaker's cat, decides to mess up all your paperwork. Agatha has spent a lot of time putting the perfect matches together and within minutes her cat destroyed it. Now her niece must make sense of it all. She hopes all goes well. The first match story is about Connor and Elsie and from the beginning, you can see that they are not a perfect match, and nobody can understand why they were matched together. There are funny times and serious discussions, but with the good Lord watching over them, will they become a perfect match. Enjoyable and great narration.

Very entertaining historical romance!

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration by J. Scott Bennett was perfect for this type of book and extremely well done.
I love these stories by Barbara Goss. They are not what I usually read, but they are such an escape from anything from this time that they really take me away for awhile. I loved the way this one started out. The matchmaker's matched cards got mixed up and when her granddaughter tries to help, things aren't quite right--which Elsie and Connor soon discover. One is religious, the other isn't. Connor wants help with his medical practice, but Elsie passes out at the sight of blood. The differences are many, and so more important than others.
As they spend more time together, neither is sure of loving the other. Will they overcome their differences and follow the fork in the road to love?
I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.

Mail - Order Bride

Connor and Elsie have some serious challenges to overcome before they are happy together. This story does contain some references to assault which might be a trigger for some.
