About this listen

Shocked...but not shattered.

After my friend Taran led his girlfriend Merith to Arda Academy, our lives were left shaken like figures in a snow globe. My little sister Clare, always high strung and anti-social, now hides herself away with her piano, drowning her devastation in music and solitude. As class president and a role model for other students, I have no such luxury, forcing myself instead to face the truth head on. My best friend Danica remains at my side, her tough as nails exterior resolved to support me as I struggle to control my magical power, but will she ever let me close to the girl beneath, the one I have loved since the moment we met?

*

Kyle Thorne has everyone's back. His classmates and friends know they can count on him, but the pressure to be perfect after the chaos brought into Arda Academy when Merith Leigh brought her personal battle into the school is overwhelming. The two most important girls in his life have the power to both devastate and defend him: his younger sister Clare, always unreachable and distant; and his best friend Danica, strong and sure, and also completely unaware of his love for her. When his efforts to control his unique magic fail as his confidence plummets, will Clare and Danica be able to give him the strength he needs to stop another disaster from destroying Arda when it is at its weakest?

It was ok!

I really enjoyed the first one. This one for me though lacked substance... if I heard about his crush on Danica I was gonna scream!!! There was not much to the story and no questions answered! The narrator for me along with the first book was kinda awful! If I was not invested in the story and how it ends I would stop listening because of the narrator! I hope the next book will be better and have a lot more substance!

niece

this review is not personally mine. My niece is the one that enjoyed the first and now this book and is looking forward to the next book, as it was not my type of book. This series is specifically targeted for teens.

Sweetly Spooky

I really love how this book has a voice all of its own. There was no time that I felt as if I was reading a lesser Harry Potter or misguided Twilight fan fiction.
Arda is a YA world all of its own with spine tingling secrets and unique family dynamics to work through. Yes, the heroes/heroines end up being your typical orphans (maybe?), but their family struggles are so much bigger.
I’m really enjoying this series and can’t wait to find out more of Arda’s secrets.
The narrator did a good job with most of the voices. She has a high voice and did surprisingly well with giving voice to the male lead character.

Love this

I love how the story flows from the first book. It is definitely a different story and can't wait to find out what comes next..This narrator's voice kinda gets on my never and I am not sure why. I push through because the story is good.

Consort of Spells

This book 2 was really great! This book was from Kyle’s point of view after his world was turned upstairs down! Now he has to navigate senior year while dealing with this new bombshell that has been dropped on him! The characters also have grown since book one, I really enjoyed reading these books and also love that they are clean so I can share them with my daughter.

Good Series

Arda Academy, a.world of magic, the power and destruction within the academy for some. A family dynamic also is shown. Good YA book and good trilogy. Given audio for my voluntary review

good

It was a good, clean book. I listened to the first book and this one picks up a few months after the first one ends. I like the characters, I just thought that it got a little chaotic in the middle. They were in and outside so much in the middle, it was hectic. We are still left with a lot of unanswered questions that I'm hoping will be all wrapped up in the 3rd book. Good storyline though and the narrator does a great job.

Teen/YA Paranormal Academy Series

This is the second book in the Arda Academy Series. I really enjoyed the first book, if you have not read the first book, you need to start there. The first book is told in Merith’s POV. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this second book is in Kyle’s POV. A lot happened on the first book and the main characters are trying to adjust to the new normal.

Narration was good and brought the story to life.

There is a lot of suspense and unexplained happenings at Arda. Clare continues being mysterious and annoying. I enjoy getting glimpses of Merith & Taran..

Kyle and his best friend Danica are trying to figure out what is going on and stop Clare from getting hurt. Merith still needs to be extra cautious with her magic.

The story moves at a great pace and is perfect for teens/YA or people like me, that are young at heart! Looking forward to the next book!
