WHEN MR. FITZWILLIAM DARCY RETURNS to Hertfordshire a year after last seeing Elizabeth Bennet, he is surprised to find that she has taken up careering around the countryside in a brand new curricle. Even more surprising is the manner in which their verbal sparring turns to good humor, banter, and flirtation. So much so that her neighbors begin to wonder if their attachment is more than just friendly.

Story
When the wealthy and handsome Fitzwilliam Darcy encounters the beautiful and lively Elizabeth Bennet at a small country ball, he loudly refuses to dance with her, declaring her to be merely tolerable. Fortunately for Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth has walked away and does not overhear his insult, thus snagging the thread that would have sealed her prejudice against the prideful stranger. Unexpectedly, circumstances thrust Elizabeth into the same household as Mr. Darcy, and her proximity unwittingly proves tempting, as her tantalizing wit and playfulness evoke desires that threaten to unravel his ...

But after a toy arrow knocks him into her arms at a Valentine’s Day ball, something shifts. Now, the master of Pemberley is determined to prove he can be romantic—even if he hasn’t the faintest idea how. What follows is a comedy of errors as the logical Mr. Darcy attempts increasingly dramatic gestures to ...

Elizabeth Bennet loathes insufferable Mr. Darcy. When a series of mishaps repeatedly throws them into each other’s company—first with her unconscious at Netherfield, then him injured at Rosings—Elizabeth begins to see a different side of the proud man she thought she knew. This tender, low-angst Regency variation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice proves that pride does indeed come before a fall…and that, in this case, love always comes after.

Story
Sometimes it takes a dog to lead you to love. To Elizabeth Bennet, a three-mile walk to Netherfield paled in comparison to the struggles she would face at Netherfield. Not only would she have to endure Miss Bingley's withering stares and haughty pronouncements, but she would also be forced into proximity with Mr. Darcy. Still, Elizabeth would endure anything for her ill sister, Jane. To Darcy, the price of keeping his one true friend was high, but worth it. After all, he had become quite adept at dodging Caroline Bingley, Charles's older sister, who seemed unable to comprehend the revulsion...

I realize that Georgette Heyer ended her books abruptly but after reading several hundred pages of her books I found this irritating and am sorry that some authors do the same. The devoted reader deserves a satisfying windup of all the characters for their investment of time and money. IMO, that whole Mrs. Younge ordeal could have easily been edited out. There is not enough known about her to really care about her. She is a desperate woman who keeps making the same mistakes. It didn’t make sense to me why she would turn murderous especially while pregnant. .,,,,And do we really need more reasons to loathe Lydia and Mrs. Bennet? They are ridiculous.
I did like the book and the author definitely has talent. It’s very well written and she keeps a whole cast of characters straight. I especially enjoyed her descriptions of places and events they attended. It’s almost like you are there enjoying them yourself.
The VV wasn’t horrible as this is one of the better ones but a talented voice actor may have made some of the complicated exchanges easier to follow.
Lots of great dialogue
