About this listen
Fitzwilliam Darcy gets the shock of a lifetime when sparks fly and he’s neck deep in water.
Perfectly tailored, confident, and smart enough to appear the gentleman under any circumstances, Fitzwilliam Darcy loses his composure and more when a heatwave strikes Hertfordshire.
Surely, no harm would be done from a brief dip in the chalk stream… until he hears a feminine gasp.
Elizabeth Bennet knows how to make a splash. Her playful banter and refreshing demeanor is a relief in the sweltering heat, but she's a danger to Darcy's heart.
Will Darcy’s defenses melt away until he takes the most daring risk of all?
Dangerous When Wet is a light-hearted, sweet Regency romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice. It's novella-length and appropriate for all ages.

Story
“Love at first sight” is a laughable concept in the considered opinion of Colonel Richard Fitzwilliam and never occurs in real life—certainly not in the life of an experienced soldier. In fact, until he observes the smitten nature of his cousin Fitzwilliam Darcy, he doubts that fervent love exists. Marriage, after all, is a matter of money, social standing, and property.

What if Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy spoke honestly to each other in Kent and clarified any misconceptions prior to his making his proposal? What would happen if Mr. Bennet made an ill-fated attempt to resolve the issue of the entail only to create a much bigger problem for his family and Mrs. Bennet were even more of a shrew than in canon? What if Mr. Bennet had a secret reason to encourage the couple to marry quickly and before returning home? Will they ever be able to overcome the resentment that results from Mr. Bennet's manipulations or from Mrs. Bennet's subsequent behaviors?

She meets Darcy along the way, and together they must find Lydia before it is too late. Tragedy strikes the Gardiner family and Elizabeth sacrifices her own prospects to help the family heal. She performs a heroic act while in London and then has to deal with the consequences for her and her family. Upon her return to Longhorn she attends the Assembly where Mr. Darcy very much does not act the gentleman. This is the story of a young woman overcoming all that is thrown at her, metaphorically. Caroline Bingley did not literally throw something at Elizabeth, however much she was tempted. This is variation on the classic story, with accurate historical details.

Heat leads to hilarity
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
There is lots of sweet and funny dialogue, but my favorite lines concern Darcy unintentionally treating two of our ladies to a view of his wet backside (rump). This event requires him to find a replacement rope for the Bennet’s rope swing, leading Bingley to comment: “Come, let us check the barn. I believe that is the most likely place to find a rump—er, I mean, a rope.”
Highly recommended for a jolly good time!
