About this listen

This knife-edge psychological thriller set in the entertainment hotbed of Atlanta delivers a gripping, twisty tale of one psychologist and six talented but dangerously toxic clients who push her to her own vulnerable limits—and maybe beyond—with cruel and unexpected consequences.

Dr. Victoria Benning knows it’s unethical to discuss the therapy sessions of her clients, but the drama of their unpredictable lives tests her professional role like never before.

First, she counsels Mrs. Melody, a brutally honest, gorgeous rap artist who relies on sexual leverage with men to elevate her music career. … Then there’s Charles Clay, a hot young film director and master manipulator with a fetish for opportunistic women. … Tyrell Hodge is a frustrated screenwriter, part-time driver, and full-time complainer who desperately needs a break. … Dark & Moody is a music producer who prays for a blood sacrifice in order to succeed. … Joseph Drake, a venture capitalist from a powerful, slave-ownership family, now suffers from a spell of White guilt. … And Destiny Flowers is a hopeless dreamer who struggles to keep her mouth and mind at peace—while harassing the tolerant doctor she hopes will ultimately help her.

Working around the clock, Dr. Benning observes a troubling, treacherous common denominator that plagues all six clients: a desperate impulse to grasp control of everything and everyone in their lives—no matter the cost. It’s a struggle withwhich she’s all too familiar. Determined to head-off tragedy, she comes up with a brilliant game plan to make their collective talents work in everyone’s favor. …

pretty good

I stayed confused most of the book, the end did not help either. Still confused on how thus all happened or why.

Revealing of the characters

The book was a good read. You wanted to continue reading to see how the characters would come together and who knew. An unbalanced mind could take over a person whole life. I imagined a different ending. I thought it was all a finished script that was ready to be presented.

Confused as HELL

Intriguing storylines but no real answers & the end was exhilarating but again… no resolution or answers. This is a good ‘in between’ book if you’re bored but don’t except a good ending

The twist had me

I loved the whole thing I didn’t see all the deaths coming one by one. I also didn’t see Tyrell’s girl being the main brain. I mean would you call it that? Also who are we like who was our main girl actually? I was so surprised with I guess how much control the psychologist had the whole thing was hers til the end. Why did it all start why did we let her barrow her mind in the first place. It seems the movie only became the downfall after Tyrell had a deeper interest. I wonder what would have happened if it wasn’t such a big deal. I was actually sad about dark and moody and Mrs. Melody Joe took me off guard outa left field. Charles was sad and Tyrell’s death was a power play that simple.

What!!!!!

The book started with potential not sure if he lost his train of thought somewhere in the middle towards the end, but it could’ve been better.
