About this listen

Chasing your dreams is never easy.

Jade put her dreams on hold for love once and it was a mistake she vows to never repeat. It's time for her to enter her boss era. The only thing that remains on Jade's mind is building her net worth and looking good while doing it. If it's not about the next big business deal, then it doesn't belong in Jade's world.

Growing up in Philly, Tate knew there were few paths for him to take. He could follow after his brother and friends, getting sucked into the streets, or he could work hard and find another escape route. Tate eventually finds his way, choosing to work tirelessly at chasing and achieving his dreams. Yet, even with a humble mindset and a go-hard grind ethic, he finds himself in a situation where things begin to disintegrate before his eyes. He's not built to be a quitter, so Tate is prepared to do any and everything before he gives up the one thing he loves.

Jade and Tate both choose business over pleasure, but when the waters get murky, seemingly easy decisions suddenly become difficult. Dreams can come true, and dreams can change. But what happens when the mind and the heart aren't on the same page?

It was a refreshing change for the MFC to bail the MMC out financially and for the MMC to own a regular business.

I think there was enough insinuation to tell a little more of Jaxson’s story and wish this would have been explored more.

The narrative was great. I’m a fan of Myles Washington and also thought the female narrator did a great job.

I love the twist

Wow! I really enjoyed this read. the thing that drew me to this book was the beginning of the audiobook. It was so wild that I just had to continue. Shay Davis is a new to me author, but I will definitely be reading more from her. I love the way she writes the MMC Austin Tate. He has made it to my book boyfriend list for sure! The FMC Jade didn't annoy me, I actually loved her wittyness. The story was original for me and very entertaining. The banter in this was top tier, and I laughed out loud a lot. Overall, this was a near perfect read, and I'm glad I stumbled across it!

So Good!

Tate definitely gave BDE. He was everything that J needed but after what she went through, I understand the hesitance. However, sometimes we can let our past ruin the future if we don't let it go. I love the humor, emotions, and love. I'm also glad the the FMC wasn't weak and knew how to leave toxic relationships.

New book bae

The female narrator gave the MFC a tone of condescension that made her come across like a disingenuous stuck up b*tch, instead of the bougie boss b*tch she was written to be. Her tone made it difficult to want to finish but the story was cute enough to keep me going. I was a bit annoyed by how the black community was repeatedly being stereotyped like achieving success made you the exception. My annoyance multiplied when the one time a stereotype was mentioned about the police the stereotype was qualified, apologized for, and taken back. I get not wanting to feed that police stereotype but why be cool with feeding stereotypes about your own community?

Cute but...
