About this listen

A cowboy without a home.

Screwed of the family ranch that was his rightful inheritance, Raleigh Beaumont is a man with no roots and no purpose. When a friend drags him to the bright lights of Vegas, he figures he’s got nothing to lose. But after a hell of a lot of whiskey and a high stakes poker game with a beautiful stranger, Fate hands him a second chance—an estate in the Highlands of Scotland. It’s far from everything he’s ever known, but he’s willing to trade his Wranglers for a kilt.

An heiress with a crumbling heritage.

When her brother’s bride goes AWOL just days before the wedding that’s meant to save their ancestral home from the mad marriage pact that’s held their family captive for generations, Kyla McKean believes they’ve been granted a reprieve. That is, until she finds out about the new single male owner of Lochmara. She knows she’s next in the hot seat, or ownership of both their estates revert to the crown.

A modern answer to a 300-year-old problem.

Kyla’s desperate to save Ardinmuir. She proposes a marriage of convenience. One year as husband and wife to satisfy the pact, then they get a quick and quiet divorce. Raleigh’s already lost one legacy. He’ll do anything to keep from losing another, even tie the knot with a stubborn stranger who feels far more like ally than adversary.

A Hot Cowboy and Scottish Accents!

Cowboy in a Kilt was my first book by Kait Nolan. Cowboys? Highlanders? Count me in! I loved this slow-burn marriage of convenience. Kait’s take on the lost inheritance/inheritance in trouble premise was unique and fun! Raleigh and Kyla wonderful and their initial animosity couldn’t hide all that sexual tension! I loved Kait’s quirky characters and engaging story.

Joe Arden and Amy McFadden gave wonderful performances as Raleigh and Kyla. Joe’s Southern & Scottish accents are two of my favorites, so to get them both in one book was a treat! I struggled a bit at first with Amy’s Scottish accent, but I loved her impassioned, performance of Kyla. She’s sweet and a little bit scary. This audio was super fun and I’m looking forward to listening to more shenanigans from Ardinmuir.

I like this author!

I enjoyed this book. Joe Arden is one of my very favorite narrators so I decided to see if this author could hold my interest a 2nd time and it did. Its light on angst with good characters. Its more on the sweet level compared to others I've listened to and it wasn't a problem. I also think I've listened to the female narrator before under pseudonym? but it escapes me, however that voice is very familiar. There aren't many books narrated by Joe that I haven't enjoyed. For me, this one was light, interesting and has your HEA if thats what you need.

Great series!

I don’t like cowboy stories but I love this series! The way the cowboy fit so well with Scotland shocked me but it fit! I highly recommend it!

Thoroughly Enjoyable

This was my first Kait Nolan book, but it won't be my last. It was more of a slow burn than what I usually prefer, but Kait's writing just nabbed your attention. The narration was EXCELLENT. Both Amy and Joe flowed seamlessly between Scottish and Southern US accents. Simply one of the most enjoyable reads I've done this year.

Love this Story

This was such a GREAT take on a familiar trope! I loved how Raleigh & Kyla took the Pact seriously & the devotion they had for their Family history. I also love how they took their time building their friendship that grew into love. The Narration was stellar & just added to this lovely story!!

A Cowboy in Scotland? Yes, please.

I didn't know I needed a cowboy romance set in Scotland until I picked up this audiobook and devoured it. This book is sweet, has super talented narrators, and was incredibly enjoyable. This book is done in dual narration, and it's fun to hear the actors' range of accents!

Full of passion, sweetness, acceptance and love

I loved, loved Raleigh and Kyla’s marriage of convenience, forced proximity, huge life change romance with a side of crazy inheritance requirements. This story will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the emotions. It was definitely a stay up too late, cannot put it down, I was sad for it to end kind of book. In Las Vegas trying to figure out a new life plan after learning his father bequeathed his entire family ranch and birthright in Texas to his gold digging stepmother, Raleigh is invited to a poker game where he wins a Scottish estate and title. Unbeknownst to him the land comes with a marriage requirement in order to keep the land. Kyla is also now subject to the marriage requirement now that Raleigh is the owner of the property. They agree to a month long marriage followed by a year separation and divorce. But of course, things get complicated fast, feelings develop and sticking to the initial plan is not as appealing. Experiencing Raleigh and Kyla’s HEA journey included sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and heart squeezing love and you will feel all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, teeth gritting, and cheering. I cannot wait to read more stories in this series.

Amy McFadden and Joe Arden did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story and I loved the accents in this one.
