About this listen

"Emmy Award-winning writer Chris Treece delivers the true tale of a young EMT, in a rite of passage story like no other. He brings you along on an exuberant ride and leaves you asking for more."
- Dr. Tiff Bombard, Emergency Room Physician

Ever wonder what it’s like to be an EMT? Come on author Chris Treece’s ambulance ride. Experience his first frightening call, do CPR on a clammy chest, experience driving an ambulance (it’s fun!), train to be a crew chief, get used to gruesome death, meet the tragic people he could not help and the people who helped him – like the pretty cop who saved him from an assault. Discover his joys of ‘rescue dating’ and all-night parties of EMTs, cops and firemen. Finally, experience the growth of a young man whose education on the streets made him stronger and wiser than his years.

Author Chris Treece was taught the EMT class by Emergency Care co-author Michael O’Keefe, a fellow member of his ambulance squad. After Treece’s EMT years, he worked as a journalist, Emmy-award winning PBS TV producer, a Hollywood screenwriter and a marketing director. He has the rare experience and ability to tell his wild tales. Climb aboard!

The author gives complete yet concise accounts of his experiences and journeys throughout his life. He’s a special person who really cares about his patients, coworkers, friends and family. Mr. Tweece gives you a real behind the scenes view of what he experienced, giving the listener “the scoop”. His advice to others is spot on. It made me have more appreciation for our fellow first responders. Enjoy!

The entire stay
book was amazing! The emotional guide to what it's like to work andgive your all to perfect strangers. I've always respected Em's and firefighters but this seals it for anyone that wants to see how hard this life is everyday for beautiful giving people.

True life "Real-life" I loved everything!

im forced to conclude AI reading sucks. Lack of correct pronunciation, inability to use acronyms properly, lack of correct emotional intonation.
The story avoided using profanity, as well as horrifically detailed description of death, was nice, and I don't believe the story suffered for it.
Even if you don't come from a medical background, I think this book is good. there is the ring of an egotist occasionally. Most stupid thing said in the book was rating being an EMT as having "life and death in hands" while by comparison saying air traffic controllers don't.

An interesting story of a young EMT, not graphic

I really like this account from a persons perspective as a religious person. It is more respectful and hee is so much more careful of his patients.

Honesty and bravery

True thoughts on how situations affected people doing the work. Doesn’t sugar coat the bad days.
