About this listen

When WDFW officials receive an anonymous tip that poachers might be taking young falcons and eagles from nests around eastern Washington and shipping them to a Russian oligarch, Washington State fish and wildlife officer Luke McCain and his colleagues must go to new heights to save the federally protected raptors.

Meanwhile, domestic animals are going missing in the region, and Luke investigates the gruesome remains. As details of the animals’ mysterious deaths emerge, rumors explode that a mystical creature—the ever-elusive bigfoot—may be responsible. Thinking a more plausible explanation is likely, Luke endeavors to unravel the clues leading authorities to whoever, or whatever, is killing the animals before bigfoot mania overruns the region and more beloved animals are slaughtered.

Keep them coming

I know and love the areas thus series are set in. I also love the writing, story and this narrator. I will be one of the first in line when the next book comes out too.

Story OK Narrator very good.

The plot and story was definitely not as good as his first two. The last one and this one were rather similar and premise. Let’s get back to a little more involved mystery without crazy clueless foreigners with ill advised plans. The lead in this book is a wildlife officer. I am surprised he doesn’t know that birds are animals. This was mentioned several times in the book. He made the statement, birds and animals. Birds like mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects are all animals, but the author doesn’t seem to realize that.

I like the new narrator. He makes the characters come alive and his inflection is much better.

Horrible Narration

I’m not sure why they feel the need to change narrators every 2 books. The first narrator was good. The 2nd narrator was serviceable but this new narrator is absolutely insufferable. Makes listening almost impossible. I see he’s also the narrator for the next book. I am not looking forward to that. Please consider going back to one of the previous narrators. As for the story it wasn’t as good as the previous books, but again the narration was so bad that might have detracted from the story.
