Publisher's summary

The definitive award-winning biography of Cristiano Ronaldo - fully updated to include the 2022 World Cup, Ronaldo's explosive exit from Manchester United and his record-breaking transfer to Al-Nassr

As the Qatar World Cup opened to worldwide jubilation, Cristiano Ronaldo's second spell at Manchester United reached an abrupt conclusion. It was not to be the fairy tale ending to a glittering career. Instead, over the two seasons, it had snowballed into a toxic standoff between himself, the board and newly appointed manager, Erik ten Hag. The Theatre's dream was over. On 22 November 2022, Ronaldo's contract was terminated.

In this compelling account, Guillem Balagué draws on impeccable sources, first-hand interviews and unprecedented access, taking us on a journey from Madeira to Manchester, and onto Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia. From Ronaldo's tutelage under Sir Alex Ferguson to becoming the biggest galáctico of them all at Real Madrid, and captaining Portugal to the first silverware in their history at the UEFA Euro 2016, Guillem chronicles Ronaldo's career in its entirety.

This is nothing less than the definitive portrait of a true icon of modern football, who has reached the very heights of the beautiful game and cemented his place as one of the greatest players of all time.

Great Biography w A Bias Twist

In general the book is great and has lots of details that really makes you appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo and his career. Unfortunately, it seems that it's bias at times as Guillem Balague will explain in the beginning how he came to wanting to create the book. It's worth it to understand Cristiano's background in Futbol. However, please don't let the bias interpretation prevent you from reading.

Nice

A very nice introduction! I’ve only just gotten into football and the player, so I thought this was a better overview of his life/career/story than the documentary that Ronaldo released a few years back.

like most journalists bias is a watchword here

The journalist who wrote this did what his lot do and wrote a biased piece that was poorly written. Ronaldo in this book is a crying villian that makes everyone around him worse than they'd be otherwise so he gains fame. Would have liked more of what drove Ronaldo to being one of the best instead of a couch potato's demeaning explanation for why he's a bad person and footballer. More support for the old."man in the arena" story and people who don't compete criticizing those who do.

Talentless writer shamelessly trying to make a buck off someone with talent

It’s a shame that audible really only has one Cristiano Ronaldo autobiography to listen to which is the only reason I bought this book and it was a huge disappointment. The writer clearly hates the soccer player. He’s a terrible writer and I imagine his fact checking is as bad as his writing skills. Most of this reads like an editorial and the parts that are purported to be fact almost undoubtedly are made up garbage. That said, I enjoyed hearing the brief parts about Ronaldo‘s amazing career. This writer would tell you he scored in about 10 words and then spend the next hundred words criticizing how Ronaldo celebrated the goal. He used every opportunity to insult Ronaldo even insinuating that he sleeps with his mother. Finishes the book talking about Ronaldo‘s tax evasion. Imagine that Rachel Maddow wrote a biography about Donald Trump - that’s about what this is.

Tendencioso e mesquinho

Muito tendencioso, paternalista e irónico. Apenas teve o intuito de defraudar a figura do Cristiano Ronaldo.
