About this listen

This entry in Carolyn Haines' best-selling "Bones" series finds Sarah Booth Delaney, a southern belle with a penchant for amateur sleuthing, back on the case. When black pianist Ivory Keys is murdered, Zinnia, Mississippi, divides along racial lines. The prime suspect is Scott Hampton, Key's protege, who is rich and white. Sarah is hired to prove Scott's innocence, but to do so, she'll have to navigate some treacherous waters.

I love this series, probably bc I found several signed copies of the books in my mom's things after she passed away.
But, I can't sit by for one more book and not say "it's BILUXI not Bilahxi." The author is from Mississippi, but she must have gotten such in a contract with the narrator. it's like nails on a chalkboard for this 5th generation Mississippian 😂

fun story.... but terrible MS pronunciations

Haines keeps her mysteries interesting while recognizing the tangled racial vines that are a part of her Southern heritage. Her haint Jitty continues to give fashion &
relationship advice giving each story a lighthearted edge which adds to my enjoyment of these engaging mysteries.

For some reason our lovely narrator changed up her accent a bit on this performance. Nevertheless, it was another winner. I’m already downloading the next episode of Sarah Booth.

I love this series!!!

Great listen! Kate Forbes, as usual, does a phenomenal job of portraying the characters and engaging the audience!

The Sarah Booth Delaney series is pretty good book but the pace is very slow.

I didn't notice this with the former books, but I discovered that listening to the reader was very hard. It was obvious that she needs to slow down the pace of her reading so she doesn't have to take so many breaths when she runs out of air! It's not nice to listen to her take an obvious breath every so often.

A bit of disappointment.
