Publisher's summary

You don’t have to know a spinnaker from a mainsail to enjoy this adventure book. Join Glen and Julie as they continue around the world through less traveled, dangerous areas on the far side of the world.

Turmoil in the Mideast convinces Glen and Julie to linger in the South Pacific, visiting primitive villages on remote islands. But hang on tight, because to finish their voyage, they must leave friendly shores and navigate through trouble in the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea before arriving in Europe.

Full of dry wit and compelling descriptions, Julie takes the listener along for the ride of a lifetime in this sequel (book two of the Escape Series) to her previous best seller Escape from the Ordinary.

Critic reviews

"In this thrilling book, Julie's taut writing packs even more adrenaline per chapter. She keeps you wondering how they will survive it all. Armchair travelers and real-life adventurers can learn valuable lessons from these daring sailors, lessons no course can teach." (The Ensign)

Great story

I really enjoy this book. This is part 2 of the story of her circumnavigating the world. You should definitely read escape from ordinary first. However I almost didn’t listen to either because the sample was from the first chapters of each book that talk only talk about her military career. Which is interesting but not what the rest of the book is about and I was looking for a sailing story. I think they could have chose a better sample. I also really like the narrator on this one and how the book incorporates major US events that where happening during the sail around the world.

Fantastic audiobook, will listen again

What a great adventure not just sailing, but Julie and Glenn experience life abroad traveling around the world and experiencing American tragedy at a distance I really enjoyed hearing their perspective with the events of 9/11 and hurricane Katrina and all that happened in our world while they sailed around it. It took me a while to get used to the narrator because I listened to both books back to back. So it's always hard to switch to a diffent narrators voice and nuances. You get so connected to Julie's narrative that you believe it's her relaying the story. I highly recommend this to anyone who dreams of sailing or adventures in any form national or international. You won't be disappointed. I will go back and listen to both audiobooks again and enjoy travel while my kids are young. Dreaming of my wife and I doing more adventures like this someday... minus the trip through the red sea... no thanks.

Easy Listening Adventure

As a fellow world traveler I enjoyed this book and as with any Audio book the narrator helped bring the story to life "she was excellent". I'm not a sailor but just like I believed that Capt Shackleton made some poor decisions that made him a hero I do feel the same applies here. This book was an excellent mental get away I just had to many WTF moments.

Inspirational, fantastic, recommended

Julie and Glen’s stories of overcoming adversity in paradise were gripping and well-written. The narration was skillful and dramatic. After dozens of audio books, this is easily my favorite!

Thank you, Julie, for sharing your inspirational tales. Please write more!

Realistic and Riveting

I was eager to delve into the sequel to Escape from the Ordinary and I was not disappointed! As an aspiring live-aboard cruiser, I found Julie's story to be a culmination of lessons I strive to learn vicariously. Lots of lessons to be learned and so grateful for the quality of writing. 5/5 stars!

Delos before Delos. Loved it.

I enjoyed the story and narration. I am pretty sure I will avoid the middle east when I eventually get "out there".
