About this listen

With his first invention, Mickey Campbell has already lost one legal battle. Surely this time it will be different. Joining forces with Theo Spencer, his long-time friend and a genius in neural science, they will create a device that will allow humans to access information from computers and send it directly into their brains, using a mental interface.

But when headstrong Theo starts experimenting with an altered interface, using his own body, the device starts serving a different purpose. Should Mickey continue helping his friend, or should he put his foot down and stop everything?

Together, and with help from beautiful assistant Felicia Jones, they will explore how far the technology can go while testing the bonds of their friendship. And the world will be impacted by the ramifications of their choices.

very enjoyable

This is a great little gem. I found it more enjoyable than The Dark Tower.
I can't wait to hear more from this author!

Great Story

This is a pretty imaginative well over exciting sci if story that is really good. The narrator however is ok but not great he does his character voices really well but his narration sounds grating and his voice is a little jarring when he's not doing a character and kept pulling me out of the story to think about it. He does to the characters well though hence the 3 start rating for narration.

This was surprising better-than-average sci-fi.

The book starts with Mickey, the main protagonist, ordering some burgers. I have no idea why this amused me so much, but it did.

The plot centers around Mickey (brains and an introvert) and Theo (brains but with charisma) building a brain-enhancement device. They have some early success, get funding, and then they bring in Felicia, who jointly serves as a professional colleague, love interest, and a checkpoint for reality.

Once all the characters are together, the story moves at good pace. Then it picks up. Then it really picks up. I did not think the craziness could go further, but it does.

Though I doubt this book will win any awards, it was decent sci-fi with a decent delivery.
