The good, the bad, the ugly

The good: lot's of information

The bad: doesn't just focus on cryptocurrency as the title would suggest

The ugly: over and over again self promotion to other programs that she offers.

I don't recommend this as an audio book. The spelling out of the numerous websites gets old very quickly and the amount of self promotion is overwhelming.

Having said all that, there is enough useful information to make it worthwhile for some.

Excellent

I've heard a lot of people complaining about the narrator. But I think she did a pretty good job maintaining a clear and concise and steady pace.

Good, Heavy Info with a Few Snags

There is a lot of good information in this book that may be used to support one’s knowledge of financial efforts in earning money in crypto and other areas of the finance world. I listened to Cryptocurrency Investing for Dummies at 1.4 speed for my personal listening pleasure.

Kiana Danial has no shame in plugging her previous works, and media links in this audiobook. If you are like me, and looking for more information on making money from multiple sources, these extra, often non-crypto-related resources come in handy for extra reading materials and options. If someone is only looking for crypto information, I can see how this added information can seem to get in the way of the information they are seeking.

Because so many forms of investing are commonly linked in trends, Danial covers the topics of crypto, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and foreign exchange in her audiobook. The guidelines for investing in crypto covered in this audiobook can assist the listener in making investments in other areas of finance.

One thing I believe is a drawback of this book is the explanation of charts one cannot see when only listening to this audiobook. The information is solid information, but much of it is better conveyed with access to a computer, and/or if reading along with the book to view the materials spoken of. If the listener has never seen the referenced topics, they may not be able to imagine, or follow some, or any of the subjects covered.

The reading off of websites drones on for far too long sometimes. I remember having a Speak and Spell when I was younger, and pressing the apostrophe button a lot; that drove my mom up the wall; I now feel that way with “hyphen.” The author also includes the forward slash at the end of most web addresses which are not necessary. That being said, many of these websites spoken of are (at the time of her writing) for informational sites for further education, and for websites which help the listener make purchases in Crypto and other financial options.

There is a section where Danial explains a Japanese process of viewing investment price charts; thankfully the Japanese terms she presents are frequently supported with the English translation throughout the section.

Cryptocurrency Investing for Dummies covers some subjects (including purchasing of crypto, and taxation) which have different different guidelines. Danial, having lived in at least 3 countries, (Iran, Japan, and the USA) understands, and addresses these issues, which a lot of other authors ignore, but she still has a USA lean to her information since that was her home at the time of writing.

Wendy Tremont King’s narration is well suited for this book at the 1.4 speed I mentioned earlier. King’s reading is somewhat robotic, and her pronunciation at full speed (1x) is unusual for me, seeming to example a hyper focus on emphasizing the words she is reading. With the focus on pronouncing words, some words King reads are pronounced wrong, but, let’s be honest, many of the words are names of new crypto currencies and resources like “blockonomy” which should be pronounces like a mash up between “block” and “economy.”

One of the biggest takeaways from this book is that there is going to be a huge amount of research one should commit to in order to expect to be successful in investing in crypto, or anything else in general. This is a healthy message for people to hear because many people hope, and expect investing to be easy, or about luck, as in gambling, but luck isn’t really part of investing. Timing is important, and timing should be an educated response to information seen/gathered.

There are many links for the websites involved, and the author doesn’t have any shame in guiding the listener to websites which are referral links which benefit her. Whether or not these referral links also benefit the listener is not explained.

I recommend this audiobook with a high-medium value for the amount of information contained within. For the technical, and visual materials held in the contents of the original book, I recommend the e-book, or physical versions of Cryptocurrency Investing for Dummies.

Not the best

Listening to all the the hyperlinks and abbreviations was extremely unnecessary. This is all very basic information that can be found with a quite Google search
