Publisher's summary

I crave Rafferty.

His touch. His scent. Even his broody temperament. He’s given me something to live for just when I’m on the brink of death.

I see him when I close my eyes, moments before the nightmares take over. Nightmares that remind me how small I am in comparison to what’s out there.

And even as I know my death will be his salvation, it’s my sacrifice that threatens to tear the world apart.

Join me for the second installment in the Fae War Chronicles!

Interesting Narration

This middle child has plenty of snarky moments, but also, there are epically heartbreaking scenes as well. The twisted turns were cleverly layered in. I'm anxious to begin the series conclusion, so this review is super short. Ta! I'm off to Faerie to see just how Ember will bring her man back from the darkness. Stuff is about to go down!

Mates

Ember struggles with her health and a painful desire to die and take Raff's brother's life with her death, or to somehow find a life with Raff. I was really annoyed with Ember for much of this book, but was totally taken off guard by the direction the story took. War is painful, and everything just keeps getting worse.

Excellent

Wow, this series is so great! I'm loving the characters so much. The storyline is very well written (a few things happened that I didn't see coming). I think the narrator is doing a good job. I hope that the ending is phenomenal! I can't wait so I'm starting the last book right away!!

Storyline great but….

I know there’s always that one person that finds something wrong with a book. Maybe I’m doing it too for this series but when I start rolling my eyes half the way thru the book the negative stands out. Please don’t get me wrong I really like this series and the storyline is good but I really got so tired of hearing about her dying. Throwing it in Raf’s face over and over- “just take me home so I can die” and trying to get there herself so she could sacrifice herself. It got annoying. Felt like she was saying it a few times each chapter.
The narration was great when Emma was talking with the Irish brogue but her performance for Ember was annoying. It made me think Ember was rude or whiny.
