About this listen

In this new novel by the #1 New York Times best-selling author Mary Higgins Clark, the reigning "Queen of Suspense", a dark secret from a family's past threatens the lives of two sisters, Kate and Hannah Connelly.

When the family-owned furniture firm, including the mansion where priceless antiques are kept, explodes into flames in the middle of the night, Kate must escape to save her life. But the suspicious circumstances point to her involvement. Was the explosion set deliberately? Why was Kate, a gorgeous CPA for one of the biggest accounting firms in the country, on the premises at that hour? And why was Gus, a retired and trusted employee, with her? Now Gus is dead and Kate lies in the hospital gravely injured. Hannah, Kate's sister and a rising fashion designer, must discover what drew them there and what dangerous secrets lies hidden in the ashes.

Step by step, in a novel of dazzling suspense and excitement, Mary Higgins Clark once again demonstrates the mastery of her craft that has made her books international best sellers for years. Daddy's Gone A Hunting presents the listener with a perplexing mystery and a fascinating cast of characters - one of whom may just be a ruthless killer.

Fun story!

Fun story, good narration, kept me guessing til the end. Of course I'm a fan of these light mysteries & this one was another good MHC story.

Always a nice read

Would you consider the audio edition of Daddy's Gone A Hunting to be better than the print version?

As a busy mom being able to have the audio version of this book was great. I was able to listen on my commute to work, while doing housework and when getting ready to go to bed. Print versions are good, but being "read to" while doing mundane chores is way better!

What other book might you compare Daddy's Gone A Hunting to and why?

It is similar to Mary Higgins Clark's other books, but I own all of them, so I guess she is doing something right.

Which scene was your favorite?

Kate's experiences and flashes of memory while in a coma was interesting.

Daddy's Gone Hunting

Would you consider the audio edition of Daddy's Gone A Hunting to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version.

What other book might you compare Daddy's Gone A Hunting to and why?

None

What about Jan Maxwell’s performance did you like?

She was good and did great job of using voice tones to describe the characters.

Any additional comments?

I gave the book 5 stars because I did enjoy it.The reader was good but the sentences were too long for the sentecnce to flow smoothly for any reader. Too much information was given at one time of the characters. More info could have been reveled as the story unfolded. There were too many characters with only a small role in the book but they too had too much history making it too "wordy".

Just fair - not MHC's best by far

I was very excited to read a new MHC book but I was very disappointed with this one. The story and overall was just "fair". Had it not been for the narrator I am not sure I would have finished this one.

Not her usual plots and interesting characters at all.

The title of the book did not even seem to fit.

Hoping for more from this usually great author.

Interesting

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book yes, but not the narrator!

What did you like best about this story?

I always like Mary Higgins Clark, she keeps you guessing to the end!

Did Jan Maxwell do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I thought she did well with the female voices however the male voices were horrible! They all had a whine not at all easy to listen to. I will not buy any more books with her narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No
