Helped me spot the subtle manipulation
I grabbed this out of curiosity, but wow—it actually helped me recognize behaviors I’d been brushing off for years, especially in work settings. It’s not just theory either; I caught myself using a few of the persuasion tips in daily conversations without even trying. Super useful if you’re into understanding how people tick.

Great for Anyone Looking to Survive Manipulation
As a social worker, I’m always on the lookout for tools to help my clients build awareness and resilience, and this audiobook was eye-opening in all the right ways. It breaks down how manipulation actually works. It’s packed with real-life examples that make the concepts click. It doesn’t just expose the manipulation, it empowers you with ways to recognize and respond to it. It digs into things like the Dark Triad personality traits, NLP, and even societal mind games in a way that’s clear, direct, and relevant, especially for people who may already feel like they’re being pulled in too many directions emotionally or mentally.
I’ve already recommended it to a few clients who struggle with boundary-setting or have been impacted by manipulative relationships. It gives them language for what they’ve experienced, and that’s huge. If you work in the helping professions or just want to protect yourself and others from psychological tactics that often go unnoticed, this is one to add to your library. Eye-opening, practical, and honestly kind of empowering.

Had no clue how much I needed to look out for…now I do!
Look, I think there’s something that’s always been subconsciously fascinating to a lot of us about dark psychology. But I asked for this book mainly to understand exactly what might be used by individuals against me, in order to formulate tactics to protect myself. I love that Dylan Blake’s book addresses this directly, and exposes topics beyond just the common “gaslighting“ that everybody associates with dark psychology. I found, for instance, that love bombing is a huge thing I’ve been a victim of in the past, and I definitely feel better equipped to handle manipulative tactics in the future! I also discovered that I accidentally engage in using dark psychology tactics sometimes, and it was not a good look! It made me more aware and decide to be more conscientious of how I go about conversations. So grateful for Dylan and his work to prepare us to feel confident and in control

Eye Opening and Easy to Follow
I listened to this while organizing my closet and found myself pausing a few times just to think about what I heard. The narrator had a clear voice that made even the heavier parts easy to take in. Some of the ideas on persuasion and body language really made me more aware of how people behave. A few sections repeated a bit but it helped the points stick. It gave me a better understanding of how influence works and how to spot it in real life.

Fascinating Insights into the Power of Words
This was certainly very insightful and fascinating. It was very easy to listen and enriched my understanding of how relationships work and how we can protect us from being manipulated by both narcissists and sosiopaths. Although the title looks heavy it is a positive read giving positive aspects to "dark" or rather hidden psychology. A great read and well narrated. I recommend it thoroughly.

Learned More Than I Expected
I picked this up out of curiosity, but it ended up giving me a way deeper understanding of how people think and act. Some of the tactics are intense, but knowing how they work really helped me notice patterns in conversations and social situations. I’m not using it to manipulate anyone, but it’s great for spotting when someone else might be trying to. Easy to read and surprisingly practical in everyday life.

Eye-Opening Insights Into Human Behavior
This audiobook was eye-opening and slightly disconcerting in a positive way. It delves into how we influence each other, both overtly and subtly. While some parts were uncomfortable, they helped me recognize moments where I had been swayed or influenced others. I appreciated its focus on awareness and intentionality. It made me more mindful of my communication and personal energy. I definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to better understand themselves and others.

Take back control of your mind
I stumbled across this book at exactly the right time in my life. After feeling increasingly manipulated by media and advertising, I wanted to understand what was happening beneath the surface. This book blew my mind. It methodically breaks down how dark psychology tactics are used against us daily, from marketing to personal relationships. The sections on gaslighting and the Dark Triad traits were particularly eye-opening. I listened during my commute and finished it in just a few days, couldn't stop. The narration was engaging and the content was well organized. It's definitely worth a listen.
